Jeb Bush would be unelectable in 2008, particularly with the talk of nepotism, and the phoney and exaggerated claims of monarchy in this country with a second member of a family being elected (and re-elected) in this country for the second time. I think that if Jeb wants to run it would have to be after a Democrat administration, or after another GOP two term administration (depending on what happens in '08.

As for Colin Powell, I doubt he's going anywhere, but if he does, I would expect to see Condaleesa Rice become the Secretary of State. It will also be interesting to see where Rudy Guilianni might fit into the new administration. I think he would make an intersting Attorney General.

To get back to the theme of this thread, if I weren't firmly against the death penalty I would be in favor of shooting Ashcroft as a traitor to his nation. As it is I will be satisfied if he just vacates the AG post and I hope never to see him in any kind of public office again.

Which enemies did he aid or comfort during a time of war?

All of them, by feeding the fear of the citizens of this nation unnecessary for political advantage, basically to diminish the rights of the citizens.

You'd have to shoot almost the entirety of Congress as willing accomplices.

Remember, I didn't want him shot (well, I do, but...). Lets just kick them all out of office and start over.

A little bit vitriolic, eh? Where's that Christian "love thy neighbor?" Reverend. Would Jesus shoot Ashcroft?

I think I have been very clear that I don't REALLY want him shot, but I don't have any desire to see him in public office anymore either. I suffered through having him as my governor, Senator, and then AG. I didn't think he did a particularly good or fair job in any of those positions. He is vindictive, self-righteous, not to mention narrow minded. Other than that he is a great guy.

especially considering John Ashcroft is a Christian and is the son and grandson of ordained ministers.

What is your point? I am a minister and the son of a minister. I disagree strongly with his interpretation of the scripture on many points. I don't happen to be the strict fundamentalist he is.

Really clear? Why even bring up the subject of shooting someone? I don't think that's at all funny or see how it's relevant to your argument. In fact, I think it's down right scary to say something like that. If you had said that about the President, you might expect a knock on your door from the Secret Service.

It's nice to see that you practice what you preach, you know? Judge not less thee be judged.

We have plenty of bullets. :sure:

(NOTE: to make it very clear to some people, that's a joke, I am not advocating the death of anyone).

Hah, hah, very funny. Here's another gutbuster, let's round up all the homosexuals and shoot them :D (if you believe that Bogy and HGL were joking, then you can believe my comments were a joke too).

That was completely unnecessary and your intent was only to incite. Why is it so important for you and a few others here to do that at every opportunity you see?

true. He has the audacity to actually believe the Bible means what it says and when it says something clearly and plainly (as is very often) - we should take it to heart. My point is simple. You disagree with his politics. That's fine. That's the american way. But " I didn't want him shot (well, I do, but...). " or "Time for impeachment" which were your comments are not really called for if you really believe the Christian faith - after all Jesus calls him a "brother" and in fact your brother too if you believe. That's my point.

This thread is going away. Enough talk about shooting people - whether in jest or not - it is in appropriate.
