Attention HR24-200 and H24-200 testers... do you need BBCs?

One bit of information I wanted to give you now is that if you are not using SWiM (either the SWiM dish or a separate switch) you will need B-Band converters (BBCs) for your devices.

Look at the satellite setup for one of your existing receivers or look on the back of a receiver for the BBC if you're not sure this applies to you.

If you need BBCs, now is the time to call DIRECTV and ask for them. Tell them you need them for an existing receiver you already have, it shouldn't be too hard.

Your new receivers won't come with BBCs and you may need to re-run satellite setup and select the right dish/multiswitch when you get the receivers if you're not on a SWiM setup.

If you run into trouble, maybe one of the testers here might have one or two, or I can run interference with a trusted CSR or two who might be able to help you out.

I'm good, though I don't have any that I can really share yet. Sorry.

    Cheers,
    Tom

I had a really fortunate coincidence, one of the BBCs on my HR21 is going bad (really) and when I called they are sending me two since its a DVR :)

I've got some old ones, but they may not be the current version. In my experience if you call Customer Service and tell them you need to replace a BBC, they'll send it Fed Ex pretty quickly.

IIRC, the newer versions are black and the older ones are grey, correct?

Mine are mostly black, and if you need them, just say so. I got them for free, and thats how they will come to you to... even the shipping. I believe I have at least 4 black and two grey.

I am supposed to have SWiM/DECA installed 6/7 so I should not need one for the H24. I am out of town the entire week before, so it will be sitting in its box until I get the wiring done.

Glad to see you finally got a date for your install, make sure you print off plenty of diagrams for the installers.

I hope all goes smoothly for you.

Scott, I have everything crossed that I can cross. I only hope that since it is an early install for Richmond, a supervisor/trainer is along.

If there is no BBC on your H23, then you won't need one for your H24.
