No, it was on 704-1 yesterday. Noticed it on 2 different hr20-700's.
I see you were reporting AUTOCORRECT after PAUSE about 1/2 the time. I was curious if anyone not seeing any AUTOCORRECT at all after PAUSE might have been watching OTA when they observed that, because I've observed there's no AUTOCORRECT on FFX1 with OTA.
Or more likely, you are just tolerant of bugs that other people would classify as unacceptable.
Unfortunately, great numbers of people have very low standards of acceptable performance, and that results in releases of software that not only has annoying bugs like auto correction that way over auto-corrects, but also also software that doesn't even perform some of the most basic functions reliably, such as reliably recognizing and processing every remote button push.
I tested using two sat channels: COMHD and spot-beamed CBS HD. No autocorrection on pause in either case.
You keep interchanging FFX1 and pause (or I'm misunderstanding).
For the record, I don't even have OTA. My FFX1 autocorrects, PAUSE does not.
I don't see autocorrection after pause on any recording. They always pick up right where they left off.
I was just trying to see if, similar to FFX1, PAUSE autocorrrection results might be different for SD, MPEG-4 or OTA.
The auto-correction happens if you use FF and then you press Play to start watching. It will rewind several seconds and then play. If you press Pause, it stops right where you press it. If you pause, when your restart, it starts right where you paused.
Not for me...
I use a Harmony sequence(Macro) of PAUSE(obvious) + PLAY(start playback) + PLAY(clear progress bar), as a workaround for the awful functionality of Autocorrect on FF1. It definitely jumps back a second as soon as it receives the pause command; and every time.
Although this is weird implementation, it doesn't bother me that much. What bothers me is the fact that I have to use a workaround at all.
Ok, you're correct. It does jump back maybe a second. Its still much better then the problem when you go from FF to play. Then it jumps back several seconds. And if you are using FF4, there is a huge difference between using pause or play to resume watching.
Other's reported autocorrect after pause, therefore my post...
I'm also not seeing autocorrect on FFX1.
I've used the pause technique for a long time at any of the FF speeds. It doesn't autocorrect when I press play again.
Then you have a magical box. Mine a/c's on every PAUSE and FFx1. Others report it too. I will agree that it varies based upon mpeg2 and mpeg4, but it still autocorrects on PAUSE. It's just 2 secs versus 5-6 secs. Unforgivable.
The play after pause trick USED to work for everyone. It doesn't anymore. I would assume that you are viewing mpeg2 and you just aren't noticing the smaller a/c. Try watching mpeg4 programming and get back to us.
Heck! I like the Auto correct after pause.
Im deaf, the captioning doesn't kick in for like a few seconds after you click play, I MUST quick rewind to catch it where it paused. so I can keep up with the shows myself.
Direct TV has a TERRIBLE track record on having the captioning working, maybe I should start barking like some guys here and see i they ll fix it just for me.
Have they actually FIXED it??!! Although my first press at the end of the buffer resulted in a/c, each subsequent press seemed almost no a/c on PAUSE. I will be testing rigorously over the next few hours.
Hey Clyde ..
A software BUG is NO way to provide extra "features."
Clyde (and I) could use a feature that allows specifying the amount of autocorrection on pressing Play or Pause after each of 8 events: RRx4 ... RRx1, FFx1 ... FFx4.
Specifying could be accomplished through a new Setup screen, or (if option-haters have their way) via clumsy kludges like searching for 30SKIP.
I would be fine with that option. But if they don't give us that capability, then they need to GET RID OF a/c on FFx1 and PAUSE.
And after a day of testing, this DVR STILL a/c's on PAUSE and FFx1. So they DID NOT fix it!
Well, with the arrival of 0368 I see that this STILL isn't fixed. But THANK GOD that they gave us TVMail! Because THAT was a high priority for ALL of us. :nono2:
Personally, I'd rather do without autocorrect altogether.
I realize that most customers probably like it, but why can't DTV make it an option buried deep in the menu somewhere so that advanced users can decide whether they want it or not?
With my old cableco DVR, I could buzz through a football game in 45 minutes if I had to.
