Though, for some reason, not often mentioned in the same vein as Ruth, Gehrig, Mays, Cobb, Williams and a handful of others, Stan "The Man" Musial was truly one of the all-time greats. He was a favorite of my 85-year-old father, who grew up a major Cardinals fan in Poplar Bluff, MO.

RIP, Stan. Heaven is gathering one heck of a baseball team!

Not only a great player, but a great person also.

An all time great. Micky Mantle was my hero when I was growing up but it was Stan Musial whose batting style I copy. Not only did he get his nickname from the Brooklyn fans who would say "Here comes that man again" when he come up to plate, but as a sign of respect was elected to the Brooklyn Dodgers Hall Of Fame. Rest in peace.
