What makes you think they have any right to announce anything? They just launched the channel 2 weeks ago. The football season is 36+weeks long, and they have a free stream on their website. One week isn't going to kill anyone, so I don't understand the venom.

One interesting thing though we should notice:

BeIN Sports has specifically stated that the free stream would be available until August 15th, so AFTER that date, there will be no more streams.

Now.... that brings up something interesting: For any provider to want to sign a deal (and place it in a sports tier) they probably do not WANT the stream to be live at the same time their network is live, as it may prevent people from getting the sports pack (or, switch to DirecTV if they have a provider that doesn't carry it at all).

All this does seem like very good news, and a very good indicator that BeIN TV will launch for sure on the 15th.

I was just addressing the fellow's disdain for the way beIn has handled the situation. They have put a significant investment in bringing European soccer to this country, possibly as a way to bring down the walls in anticipation of WC2022 in Qatar. Accounts have it that they are paying out money to get this product aired. Faulting beIn for not having the smoothest transition to operational as well as full distribution is pointless in my book; the fact they have secured the talents of Phil Schoen and Ray Hudson are well worth the money they didn't spend to make this the most beautiful entry to the marketplace.

They just launched the channel 2 weeks ago, but they won the rights on December, they tried to "play" with providers like they have the rights for NFL or MLB, it didn´t work out, and now they have to pay providers to launch the channel.
It was going to be launch on August 1st, then August 15, now only one channel.....how many games you think are going to have in one channel live with so many soccer rights under their wing? You don´t understand my venom, but I don´t understand your protection of beIN.

Well that is pretty easy to answer.... there will NOT be many live games. Even with 2 or even 3 channels.

Just like the MLB here, with games MOSTLY starting at 19:05 local time, most soccer games in Europe start at the same time as well. It varies slightly per country, but games generally start anywhere between 19:00 and 20:30 local time, and as such BeIN sports can only pick up ONE game live (with the one channel they have) out of a choice of many DOZENS of games they have the rights for and are playing at that exact time. They can tape-delay a live game to start right after one game is over (e.g. one game starts at 19:00, another at 20:30, with halftime and extra time the first game might be over at 21:00, and the other game will start delayed half an hour).

The weekends look better. Saturday is less popular than Sunday as a game day, but as I go through the online schedule for last week (they haven't updated it yet) you could have seen 4 live games, and 2 slightly-delayed games, airing right after the live games.

So all in all it is not too bad. Not any worse than GOL TV for instance. The timezone difference bites a lot more than anything else.

Not any worse than GOLTV, I agree with you, but with Directv, you had basically every LA LIGA game live between Goltv, ESPN Deportes and Directv dedicated channels, so for Directv suscribers, LA LIGA is going backwards

I'm glad someone is willing to invest in the growth of popularity of soccer in this country. I see most outfits within this country trying to hold it back.

For those of us without ESPN Deportes perhaps having beIN Sports will allow us to see more La Liga matches than before.

Expected: 620. (test shows it at 9620, and that is usually the indicator).

GolTV is moving to 627 for English and 456 for Spanish.

Thanks for clearing that up. But why not just put BeIN at 627?

One can assume the Qataris wanted their channel right in between FSC and FS+, and were willing to write a check to GOL to make that happen.

I agree with you on that one, 15 or 20 years ago ESPN had the rights for LA LIGA and instead to show MADRID-BARCELONA live, we had tape delay fishing or bowling....and i'm not joking

The only horse I have in this race is soccer in America. I don't give a crap about a company. I think every entry pushes the establishment in this country to take soccer seriously. Watching NBC's coverage of Olympic soccer shows just how resistant they are - commercials during the action, not even showing an event on the main NBC affiliates, and other minor nitpicks that show that nobody with a soccer background is influencing their coverage.

I'm also happy that they are moving NBCSN to the lower reaches of the channel spectrum. Hope it happens in September. MLS isn't as prestigious as the European leagues, but I honestly think a lot of people don't know when it's on or where to find it. I have friends who would watch it if it wasn't so inconsistent. You rarely have the fluctuations in start times and network locations in other sports as you have in MLS.

Thanks, guide has been updated on my DVRs and it's showing on both 426-1 and 620-1 that Gol is moving to, respectively, 627 and 456.

Now the follow-up question: What will be on 426? beInSports 1 or 2?
