Lincoln Financial runs a syndication unit. They bought out Raycom a few years ago and changed the name. You'll find those games in Game Plan PPV package. CBS carries SEC games as well.

thanks for the info on the lincoln sports station - and yes I know CBS carries SEC games - i can usually count on 2-3 Vols games a season to be on CBS (vs FLA, vs ALA and a random if both teams are ranked, like Georgia 2 years ago)

Also congrats on signing Daunte Fumblepepper...Go Broncos!

First off it's nice to see I'm not the only SEC sports fan in Des Moines! (my team is the Razorbacks)

Lincoln Financial Sports used to be JP Sports and they carry syndicated games in the SEC states...like how we (used to) get all those Big 10 games on Fox 17 through ESPN+. The cool thing about LF Sports is that they stream all of their SEC games live on Yahoo.

Does that also mean that I don't have to pay for it if I don't watch it? ;)

Yeah JP Sports I knew it was either them or Raycom. Thanks for the clarification.

Will D* be carrying the HD games from day 1 or will we have to wait until D10 is operational?

You SEC fans have it easy in Iowa. I'm a PAC10 fan in Alabama. They think the PAC10 is a 12 pack with two beers missing here.

    GOGO PAC-10 CHANNEL!!!

that's funny because the Fox Sports net channel here always shows Pac 10 games, fball and basketball - and I will watch if its a good game, but I'd rather have SEC!

Originally from Nashville, you originally from Arkansas somewhere I'm assuming?

I didn't know that about Yahoo streaming - luckily I can hook my PC up to my TV, so if the PQ is decent I'll have to do that for any UT games that aren't on nationally. Is that a pay service or does it just require signing up on their site? If I count that plus the 2 tuners on my (soon to have) HR20 - that'll be 3 games I can follow pretty easily just by switching TV inputs/tuners

Is Sept. 1 the official launch of the network on D*? It's not really clear from the article.

I love this "pay for it" argument. That is because CABLE increases prices when they get a single channel. D* doesn't (and to my knowledge, despite being cheap *******s, E* doesn't either).

Prices for products like cable are not a "pass it on" venture. They increase the price because they know that people will pay it. So, if you local cable company increases the price for a single channel, drop them if it is so important to you.

Blaming BTN for the cable company pricing model is weak.

I don't think anyone knows the answer to that yet. I think D* would have the capacity to do it, even without D10, for the first 2-3 weeks.

They would have capacity to do it in the first few weeks but once D*10 lights up BTN HD will be MPEG-4 so Im not sure if they wish to start airing games in MPEG-2 then take them away from ppl within a few weeks if their aren't hooked up with MPEG 4 equipment. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

My thing is i love D* wisdom on this. D* adds these channels(YES,BTN,NFL_STetc..), and they pick up all the extra customers. Everybody says the price will go up, E* doesn't add them, and the price is still about the same between D* and E*. . :)

Free is fine as long as it's free. The BTN is going to charge Mediacom 1.10 per subscriber. Unless the BTN is giving it's channel away for free I think cable companies should be able to put it on whatever package they want.

I'm originally from Kansas, but an Arkansas grad.

The Yahoo streaming is free. Just go to the "Broadcast" section under NCAA Football. They also carry a lot of basketball including the SEC tourney. PQ on a TV is not the best (I've tried it) but it's pretty decent on the PC. You won't see every game but they do carry one or two games each Saturday.

Of course it's a "pass it on" venture. They may not implement the price increases at the same time a new channel is added, but if their programming costs go up then the cost to the consumer eventually goes up. Also, all the cable and satellite companies are in the same game and there's nothing fundamentally different in their business models.

220 channel is not where any HD channels are - perhaps they will carry it in SD and a separate HD channel for the games

What do you want to bet that even if Mediacom doesn't add the BTN to their basicpackage they will still raise their rates later this year?
