Yeah, two mediocre teams with no defense. Should be fun.

Add me to the list. I signed up for D* yesterday. I was very polite to the E* customer service and rentention departments and I made sure I told them what I liked and disliked about their service (with BTN being my reason for leaving). I'm not sure how far any feedback will go but it doesn't hurt.

For the most part I liked E*, their DVR and PQ were great IMHO. I'm sure that E* will get the BTN sometime in the future but I did not want to go through another HD RSN fiascal (waited 11 months for mine). In the end I felt like I paid enough money to Dish every month to not have to complain, whine and beg for every channel that wanted.

D* install is scheduled for September 8th!

I was hoping that when Channel 220 showed in the guide today, that there also would be a BTN-HD somewhere, at least on channel 220 until the D10 sat lights up. Alas, I don't see it. :(

    Hmm, no fair. :(

Besides having D* in the main living room in the house, we also have expanded basic cable, for the rest of the house [separately owned]. Luckily enough, especially considering how behind the times my cable co. usually is, we get BTN right from the start.

Cable co. is offering BTN-HD from the start too. That's the "no fair" part for me. But, I can wait a couple weeks or whatever it is until D10/BTN-HD goes live on DirecTV. Still possible that the HD BTN games could show up on all or any of 93/94/95/98.

220 has Fight music now with a countdown on it..

I am kind of disappointed with the programming right off the bat, Michigan-Ohio State from last season will air like 6 times in the first 4 days, Luncheon will air 304 times, and the preview show like 7 times.

I wish they show this saturday replays.

Don't worry about those reports of problems with the HR20 - they are old news and have been fixed by software upgrades. Mine has been rock-solid stable and hasn't missed a recording in months. And while I liked the DLB feature with the older model, I really haven't missed it that much. I normally watch the Rams game on NFLST and record a game on another channel. This year I'll probably record the Redzone HD channel, so I can go back and watch parts of all of the games.

Other than DLB, there really isn't much that is lacking compared to the Tivo. The limit of 50 Series Links is a common complaint. The eSATA port is nice - I have a 1TB external storage system connected to mine, which gives me the capacity for about 225 hours of MPEG4. All we need now is for DirecTV to turn on the HD feeds of BTN and NFL Network and we'll be all set for football season.

Does anyone know how may different BTN "regions" are supposed to be carried via DirecTV, and (if there is more than one) how they decide which one I receive?

I live just 35 minutes from Ohio State campus in a 430xx zipcode and my DirecTV schedule doesn't look as if it is "regionalized" at all - my live game Saturday is the Michigan game; I wait until 3:00AM Sunday to see (delayed) Ohio State play.

I'm certain that the cablecos in the Columbus, OH area won't be featuring Appalachian State @ Michigan at noon on Saturday!

Here's my BTN schedule (edited for clarity) for the next few days (data from my DTivo TivoWebPlus):

    Code:
                                                            220 BTN - Thu 8/30

All the live games will be available live.

Ohio State is on 218. The BTN games are on 218 through 221. 220 will be on all the time while the others are on only for games.

That is the beauty of DirecTV over most cable companies. They will give you all while the cable co will probably give you one game. (Although the BTN is making them all available to all systems that carry the BTN.)

Anyone notice during the BigTen preview show tonight that when they had the upcoming games listed for this weekend, after each game there was an (HD) listed? I have to assume that the game will be broadcast in HD?

Sure and it's probably going to be carried by some of the other providers, but DirecTV isn't one of them. See press release at the top of this page.
