Because it is the truth? No one is saying they don't WANT all the games. But the truth is that all the games are not guaranteed to be carried. Sorry to inject facts into a rant, but the truth is the truth. I guess we should just let people spread incorrect information just so they can rant?

What a disaster. Guess there's no reason for anybody to follow the Pirates or Phillies anymore since it's impossible to follow either team on TV right now.

Yes, it's a total disaster missing 1 baseball game today. !rolling

By the way, what you said is not impossible. What baffles me is that you can afford to have 16 receivers ($90 in receiver fees alone each month) and TVs throughout your house, know this issue, and don't have mlb.tv.

Picture quality is a lot better on DirecTV where I live. I can only get Century Link internet that basically only gets about 128 kilobytes per second. That's why I have to get Extra Innings to be able to watch all the games. And there's no arguing that it's moronic that Pirates-Phillies will be missed for the second day in a row. We're basically missing an entire series. Why isn't DirecTV showing the CSN feed?

You're right, they don't guarantee every game, but when a game is listed, and it's blacked out IN ERROR, that is an issue AND THE TRUTH.

PS Looks like another night w/no Phils/Pirates game due to the fact that DirecTV won't broadcast the Phils feed. So the Masters was 2 weekends ago, what gives?

The game on the MLB Network alternate was not a national game, it was exclusive to the Pirates territory. Unless you see the games in the listings on channels 721-749, which it wasn't, it's not part of Extra Innings.

CSN Philly isn't airing tonight's game, The Comcast Network is and for the record iNDemand doesn't have tonight's game either.

As for what gives, I'll give you a hint, they were on strike and their regular season was extended by a week. The masters only affects HD coverage. It's the multiple NBA and NHL games on the RSN alternates that bump games. (Even though the games are available nationally, the RSNs still carry the early round games locally) And it's not even DirecTV doing it in some cases, just take a look at the full MLB schedule for every team and see the games that have zero local TV coverage since the RSN gave priority to the late season NHL game over an early season MLB game. (For example the Marlins game this coming Thursday

    Isn't CSN Comcast Network?

And what's the deal w/the strike?

And seriously, how often does a team's game not get shown on MLBEI? It's rare.

    CSN = Comcast SportsNet
TCN = The Comcast Network, the former CN8 a local regional cable station which doubles as the overflow for CSN Philly

The NHL strike extended the regular season, so what would have already been the playoffs is still the regular season with every team playing. So the RSNs now have to juggle playoff NBA games, late season NHL games with post-season births on the line and early season MLB games.

It's very often actually. i.e. cases where there's no local TV for one team and the other team is only availble on an isolated local station, the game isn't available on both iNDemand and DirecTV. For example we have tonight's Pirates/Phillies game (which was going to use Root's feed until they were bumped for a rescheduled Sabres/Penguins game due to the terror attacks), and Thursday's Marlins/Cubs game which is only available locally in Chicago on WCIU, as opposed to a My9 Yankees or MyPHL17 Phillies game which are regionally syndicated (what you see on E/I isn't a straight reuplink of the local feed of those stations, it's the feed they send to other stations on their broadcast network)

I guess Extra Innings is just not as good a product as it used to be. Shame really. I remember when DirecTV was the sports leader. With countless games missing and feeds missing, plus no Pac 12 Network, it's rapidly declining. If they lose Sunday Ticket, then DirecTV will go bankrupt eventually.

    Wow...
From 2 missed Phillies - Pirates games to bankruptcy.
That is some amazingly irreversible downward spiral for a company that missed "Countless" ( um, 2, actually ) games.

I'd better switch to Dish tonight before my screen is completely blank.

What Extra Innings "used" to be? Were you around for the era when the only feed available was the home teams? The era before DirecTV had all their RSNs available in HD when YES was the only RSN available in HD nationally and every other RSN had to share spot beams on a part time basis. Not to mention the blackout on Saturday afternoons where no game could be offered on Extra Innings when Fox had their window.

    Compare DirecTV to iNDemand's version:

    - 14 SD channels that are shared with Center Ice, which are also overly compressed and jammed onto the same transponder as the 10 SD channels used by League Pass and Direct Kick. (Not even DirecTV puts that many channels on one transponder)
    - Late games joined in progress
    - Dual feeds are rare
    - Only 9 HD feeds (that are also shared with Center Ice), if you're lucky enough to have a provider who has them all.
    - Even more games not carried at all (i.e. tonight's MASN2 Oriole's game wasn't going to be carried until Root dropped their Pirates coverage freeing up one of the channels)

Really the only place to get every game is MLB.tv. When there's no local TV coverage, they stream the raw stadium video feed.

It used to be good because I never remember a time in the last several years in which I was unable to see 2 straight games of a series. That is a complete joke and no one will ever convince me otherwise.

    Pretty sure it hasn't happened.

People on here can say what they want, but I can recall on one hand how many Phils games weren't on DirecTV EI since I started subscribing about 6 seasons ago.

It was blacked out, but someone said on here the MLBN-Alt broadcast was only for those in the Pittsburgh area...I ask why?

Seriously? I let the programming guide do it's normal "searching for this game on another channel," and it came back with "sorry, this game isn't available on another channel." SMH
