Was last night's game in HD on 96 for subs in Atlanta? It showed in the guide, but when I tried to tune to it I got the 721 error.

I have a HR20 with the HD package. I rebooted and stilled got the error.

I called D* and they said the game was not being broadcast, but I questioned as to why it appeared in the guide.

It was definitely on 96...I watched some of it. I gotta say, though, that there are some issues with picture quality when they show the games...there are frequent artifacts such as I have never seen on HD before...all I can say is that it looks more like a pointillist painting than HDTV when it does act up. I cannot say whether this is a stadium feed/uplink/compression/or downlink problem. But the game was absolutely there.

    Thanks! I assumed as much.

The CSR tried to convince me that just because it shows in the guide it's really not there and I should receive the 721 error to alert me that the game is not being broadcast ... I told her to note my account and figured I'd do my own research.

Sorry you aren't getting the HD broadcast, GFloyd. It is VERY interesting and innovative. Obviously, we (some of us) are getting the next wave of HD on 96.

When the pitcher starts his windup, the picture disintegrates into a million (or is it 1080?) little dots, and then his arm, and only his arm, sort of sweeps dots across the screen in a "pitching-like" motion...

You can usually tell if the ball isn't hit by the sound of the ball smacking into the catcher's glove. (HD sound is amazing). The picture typically reorganizes itself just in time to see the start of the next windup, when the above process is repeated, until you switch to the SD channel in frustration.

I saw some posts on this new technique after Monday night's game, which I missed. Having seen it Tuesday, I now consider myself to be among the elite...those paying for HD baseball and instead receiving impressionist paintings of the games WHILE THEY ARE IN PROGRESS!

    Cool, isn't it?

Yeah, Dave, that's pretty much what I've been seeing. Where do you suppose the problem lies?

Noticing the same video artifacts problem on my machine, too. Audio is always constant, no interruptions, but the pixellation is annoying as hell. This has been going on for weeks now and you would think they could work out whatever the problem is.

Do you have both the MLB package and MLB Superfan? If not, I don't believe you can receive the HD games...

I have neither, and I get the Braves SportSouth home games in HD on Ch. 96. I think it is for the Atlanta market only.

I will throw my opinion out there as well. I recieved Braves on 96 last night as well. I'm not so sure it has to do with Extra Innings as it does HD access, since 96 is SportSouth and FSN South games only. If your in the spot beam for these channels you should recieve them without Extra Innings. (From my understanding, it is another HD Local Channel) As far as the pixelation and artistry going on, I notice it 100 times more on the SportSouth broadcast games than I do on the FSN South games, someone on these boards told me that it has to do with the encoding process on D* end. I'm not sure who you would complain to in order to get them to fix it, but it is definitely a D* problem. Whenever the game is simulcast on EI on 95 or 94 in Mpeg2 there are no problems whatsoever with picture.

The game from last night was on FSN and came in just fine on 96 in HD. I saw no artifacts or drops outs.

You do not need to subscribe to the MLB package or Superfan to get your RSN in HD on channels 96 or 97.

My bad. I'm not really in a local market. The only way I seem to get MLB in HD is if it's on local Fox, on ESPN/2, or if it is part of the Extra Innings + MLB SF.

I have the same pixelation issues when they play on sportsouth or FSN on HD (Ch 95, 96, or 97). I don't know what the issue is, but the game is sometimes unwatchable on HD. Seems like it gets hung up or pixelates pretty bad every couple minutes. It looks alright otherwise. I don't know if its my setup or something at the other end.

FSN Florida has gotten alot better in the past couple of weeks. The Braves/Marlins are on Sunshine down here today, no HD.
