Can I some how move a recorded show on my HD plus box to a DVD?
I sure would like to get rid of my VCR but some times I like to keep a copy and want to keep it on a different medum. The Sat boxes tend to be more than a bit dainty.

I don't think the copyright protection will be in effect when using the composite outputs.

I record from my DVR to a R/W disk in a LiteOn recorder. I transfer that to my Mac, edit it, and write it out to a DVD.

LiteOn uses anamorphic, I think it is called, to record 16:9 into 4:3. I have to change that to a fixed 16:9 to be sure I can play it in any DVD player. That might not be necessary on other recorders, in which case you could record a movie without commercials directly to a DVD. Commercials would still require editing unless you don't care.

Some DVD recorders see false protection flags, particularly brands that start with an "S". I record from HBO all the time with no problems. For the OP, you can't record anything in HD though, it will be recorded in SD no matter what the source.

Take a look for Hauppage card with component input.

Just beware that the HDCP powers that be are trying deperately to eliminate the component output of copy-protected material.

I've transferred programming from HBO & Showtime via composite from my HR21 to a standalone Panasonic DVD recorder many times...no problem and PQ is good.

PQ is good, not HD, only SD, but good.
