Ok, it's time this gets fixed or should be on the top of the list after VOD rolls out.

It is beyond dumb that you can't edit a series link that has no scheduled episodes.

And this week is a perfect example of why one needs to do this.

Series link for Dr. Who set to first run only. New episodes start up this Friday. Only problem is that the original air date is for the *UK* showing and thus is from earlier this year. Thus the series link won't record and you can't edit the dang thing to change it to record both first runs and reruns.

So one has to delete the series link, create a new one with the updated info and then reorder it back to where the old series link was. A BIG PAIN.

So I think it's time to put this bug/oversight to rest.

    Who's with me?!

    What say ye DirecTV? :D

I agree I would also like to see this fixed as soon as possible. Also I would like to see the 50 limit removed.

I agree. Just yesterday there was a SL I wanted to change from First Run to All Episodes.

I agree totally that you should be able to edit a SL even if no shows are scheduled to record. It is ludicrous to not be able to do this.:nono2:

I agree. It is simple common troubles like this that earn no more than a "C" grade from me on polls about this unit. There is a difference between functional wishes and convenience wishes. We should rename the functional ones as demands to give them more priority.

A big pain that takes all of what 15-20 seconds to fix? I agree I'd like to see it fixed, but c'mon, how lazy are some you getting?

I'm assuming you are referring to the double dash fix? In any case, yes it's pretty easy to deal with (or you can be like me and just ignore it). Nevertheless, it's a long-standing "legitimate" issue that shouldn't be forgotten.

At least this is a "real" issue and not a pseudo issue like the constant requests for a never promised feature like DLB.:)

We were promised OTA scan (for those stations not in the Guide, or perhaps to correct some of the horrendous errors in the OTA database that make some channels inoperative), and we still don't have that either. I'm not holding my breath, as it's been over 6 months with no progress.

I have no beef with D* working on "real" issues first and leaving the "I wish it could" stuff for the very end. At least the OP's original issue is "real".

Where is "edit series links with no scheduled episodes" a promised feature?

I have never understood those who are critical for others complaining about the lack of DLBs - if you don't use it, why do you care.

You seem to have missed my point. I would prefer they don't waste their limited time on non-promised features until such time as they fix what should work correctly in the first place. The inability to edit a series link with no scheduled episodes is a bug...it is CERTAIN to happen, as series episodes disappear (they are episodic...whoa!). This is nothing more than making an existing feature work properly.

The lack of OTA scan is a missing "promised" feature that has significant implications for anyone missing channels (and there are a bunch of us).

I don't begrudge anyone pleading away for DLB....I just differ in how I prioritize it.

So, I care because programming time is a finite resource. I prefer D* use that finite time on "real" issues and not pie in the sky stuff, until such time as the promised/normal features are reconciled. No biggie, just the way I look at the process.

By all means, DirecTV should fix this issue with series links.

Consider this example: You have a Series Link to record Seinfeld in syndication on your local station, and it's set to record repeats. The series link works great. If you then change the series link to record FIRST RUN only, you not only will not get any episodes of Seinfeld recorded, but you lose the ability to modify your series link!

Consider another example: You set a series link to pad a certain program to start 1 minute early and end 1 minute late. It's #2 in your prioritizer and works great. There are no conflicts, so your program is recorded and you can edit the series link because there are upcoming programs. Now let's say you drop that series link to #20 in your prioritizer, and because of the padding, it doesn't get recorded because there are conflicts. There are now no upcoming programs and you CAN'T EDIT THE SERIES LINK. If you bump it back to #2 to eliminate the conflicts you'll have upcoming programs so you can edit the series link again to remove the padding, so you can drop it back to #20 in the prioritizer.

The issue is NOT simply that you can't edit series links when there are no episodes of the PROGRAM coming up ... it's that you can't edit series links where there are no episodes that meet the series link CRITERIA.

This just makes no sense to me and needs to be addressed, along with the limit on only 50 series links. :)

Excellent point and exactly why D* needs to get this fixed!!!
