Oh well, guess I'll have to be patient and wait for the next opportunity.

I was reading the manual that came with my H20 DVR and noticed that I could not find any reference to VOD on my TV as outlined in the manual.
I called DirectTV tech support and the person said that VOD was only specific to "cable" subscribers, not satellite...

no VOD is not just for cable subsribers, it applies to satellite too, you may here people refer to it as VOD - Video On Demand or DOD Directv On Demand, the confusion may lie in when you contacted the CSR, VOD or DOD for directv is only in the testing phases and the CSR may not be aware of it wouldn't be able to provide you with any information

    Thanks for that.

I have a DSL wireless router that my notebook computer accesses.
It is about 40 feet from my TV and snaking a cable to it, while doable, would be a real pain.
What's the best way to go VOD vis-a-vie wireless?

And given what you said re: 'testing phase' do I even have access?
I am located in the SF Bay Area.

    Buffalo ethernet adapter: WLI-TX4-G54HP

This worked for me and was very easy to set up.

    Thanks ltrain.
But what's up with the comment by CB, "the confusion may lie in when you contacted the CSR, VOD or DOD for directv is only in the testing phases".

Does that mean it's unavailable to me at this time?

Right now a certain set of cirumstances need to exist for you to have VOD. Right now it is only in BETA testing. You need to have 0x190, and an HR20 networked.
That's the short version. You have to wait for the next CE dowload THAT WILL allow you to turn on VOD. Right now, last weekend was "the" weekend.

    See this thread. http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=96125

    Much appreciation for the feedback.

I was just updated to 0x190 and will set up the network shortly.

What does "Right now, last weekend was "the" weekend" mean?

I've set up 190 and enabled VOD with the network and no 1000. I guess I'm just SoL for testing the service.

Last weekend was the CE downlaod that included the code and the ability to activiate. The one other piece that was needed was D* had to do some admin work at there end. Hence the "For Engineering Only" stuff you've been seeing.

Right now.....we don't know when D* will release another CE w/ the ability to activate VOD. It will not be in this weekends CE.

I had the "For Engineering Only - Charge" line on my account on 8/29. I did not setup my HR20 on a network/internet until 4 days later (9/2).

It will not matter unless you have this one.

Don't worry too much though. I have the DoD, I missed the download, I still have not come up with a good person to blame it on.

That image you posted has more than enough information for you to be identified by DirecTV management. Since you're a DirecTV employee, I'm not so sure you want that information on here...

Since the FEO charge vanishes at the end of your billing cycle, it is likely that it was on there on 8/14 and that you didn't look online until after your billing cycle completed.
