This is not a backdoor thing, but something that has literally taken a few years to fix across all the receivers out there.

And my guess is that this will still take a bit of time to fully populate now that it has been turned on.

    Cheers,
    Tom

There is not an actual checkmark but rather the white box by the channels that you should be able to tune. 570s don't have the box anymore.

Okay, yeah, the 570's are off. Can't get rid of the others though.

Only 570-577 are unchecked on mine. Still shows all the 600 and 700 channels which mess up auto record. Nothing to get excited about yet.

This is to be expected. As DirecTV gets experience with this change, it will be expanded to more channels (and eventually all, I hope.)

Why not just let us decide which to turn on and off like we can with the DirecTivos? I'd love to block out ALL the pay-per-views, news, sports, kids stuff on my regular/everyday receiver!

I agree. That should be the first step. It will solve 90% of all the complaints.

Doesn't using the parental control channel blocks solve this issue?

Not entirely. People are reporting cases where shows are showing up during searches. They are not watchable, but some of the titles are not what parents find comforting. The fact that they show up at all is frustrating as well.

    You joker!

You know parental channel blocks do not block out channels!

I don't seem to have this "Channels I Receive" function, only "Channels I Get". Is the new function only for HR20-700 (I have a -100).

Yeah, I don't get it either ... I could see where kids want to block parents, but to actually put that as an option on the box?!

I thought that it has been stated that this wasn't on the receiver end, but on the D* end

    Can someone respond to xandor?

I also thought this was to be handled on the guide data side -- no software update needed. Or is the software update a simply flag set to 'UseNewGuideData' now?

Agreed. It still shows sport packages I don't subscribe to as well as East Coast versions of network channels I don't get.

AS others have mentioned hopefully they're still working on this.

Yep - I have had to groom questionable PPV out of my searches even though I have limits in place. It got too frequent, and I had to delete my more liberal series links to make the problem go away.
