    Pac12 Network has it's own topic: http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?p=3132970#post3132970

Isn't that the network's first ever game with both teams ranked? It's about time they had a decent game ... it only took 13 weeks. Too bad the UCLA verse Stanford game is way more important since Stanford controls their own destiny. Stanford at UCLA gets national coverage on Fox... Fox picked the right game.

I've been a PAC-8/10/12 fan for years and it's the first I've heard of it.

I've known about the Civil War for forty years but it's really an in-state rivalry. I would hardly call it a national event. The only real PAC 12 rivalry game that has any national following is USC-UCLA and I say that as a Stanford fan. If it wasn't for The #&@%ing Play, nobody would know about Big Game, either.

Back in the day, the rivalries were often more important than the Rose Bowl in terms of bragging rights. It is also something that is going to happen every year regardless of their respective records.

The one that doesn't get much press is the Apple Cup; Washington (Fuskies) versus Washington State (Cougars).

You must not be that into the Pac 8/10/12.

It's one of the more intense rivalries throughout college football. Interest of course, is in the eye of the beholder, but consider some of these major outlets identify it among the top:

What's different here is everyone takes a side, hence the term Civil War. No doubt there are other rivalries with some mass appeal, but take Los Angeles, yes there are two universities, but 1/2 of Southern Cal couldn't care less about college football and goes to the beach or other things.

It will actually be the 6th game on the PAC-12 network involving two teams currently ranked in the BCS top 25.

I'm talking about at game time, both teams ranked. Is it really 6? Remember, some teams kept falling in and out like Arizona and Washington.

I just realized I'm rooting for Oregon St.

I knew Stanford would have to beat UCLA two weeks in a row to go to the Rose Bowl. What I didn't realize until just now is that even if Stanford loses to UCLA this weekend, they could still play in the PAC 12 Championship game. If Oregon St. beats Oregon, all three teams would have the same record in the PAC 12 North, 7-2. Since Stanford has beaten both of them, I assume the Cardinal would advance.

    Go Beavers!

After Alabama lost to Texas A&M, for Oregon and Kansas State to lose was the only way to get the SEC back into their rightful place in the BCS Championship game. :D Now if Notre Dame can find a way to lose to USC, we can have an all SEC BCS championship game again and order will be restored to the college football universe.

Yes, those numbers are very dependent on UW and Arizona being in the top 25. Arizona alone has been on the PAC-12 network 4 times against another team currently in the top 25: Oklahoma St., Oregon St., Washington, and UCLA.

the thing I always liked about the Pac 8/10 that isnt true anymore ... is that there used to be 4/5 natural rivalries:
    USC/UCLA
    Wash/Wash st
    Oregon/Oregon st
    Cal/Stanford
    Arizona/Arizona St....

    Those went away?

Utah/Colorado seems kind of natural to me.

I loved working at Nike (Beaverton, OR) the Monday after the Civil War. The OSU and OU alumni and fans would take glee in tormenting those who supported the losers. The sound of the winning team's alma mater was like a din.

I went to University at Buffalo (NY), so I didn't have a rooting interest, other than watching my friends and colleagues having fun killing each other for a week or two.

Every one of those is still true and played every year. Not sure why you think that has changed.
