I was wondering if anybody could help me or explain how to fix if possible.

On my DirecTV HR34 the closed caption does not work on my St. Louis Local ABC Channel 30. Has anyone else had this problem with STL ABC channel. Or do you know how to fix?

    Thanks for anyone help.

First thing to try is resetting your DVR/Receiver using the red button behind the front panel access card door. See if that helps.

Are you sure it's not an issue with that station's closed caption broadcast?

Did you try the SD feed? I don't know about CC, but with SAP, only the SD feed of locals has SAP. At least that's how the Greensboro, NC locals are...

Thanks for the feedback. I will try a reset.

In regards to the problem being with the local STL ABC station, that could be it. I am able to get closed caption on all my other channels but not the local ABC station.

I have hidden my SD channels since I do not watch them, only want to watch HD.

E-Mail ClosedCaptions@Directv.com, you might also want to try contacting your local ABC affiliate at closedcaptioning@abcstlouis.com to see if the issue is on their end.

Is your CC problem that it does not work at all or that it is showing every other sentence or something like that?

For the last month or so the closed caption has not worked properly with my ABC local (Boston). The closed captioning shows up but it misses a lot of words and /or sentences. It is definitely an ABC issue because all other channels do not exhibit this behavior.

Update to the CC problem on STL local ABC channel:

I do not watch that many programs on my local St.Louis ABC Channel 30 but I do watch the series Resurrection on Sunday nights and that is when I first noticed that the close caption was not working on that show. I watched the finale of Resurrection recently and the CC was still not working. I think it is probably something to do with the STL ABC channel or the show recording itself.

Tonight my wife and I watch the season finale of Shark Tank on STL ABC and the CC work fine, so I do not know why it did not work for the series Resurrection. I have not encountered any other CC problems with any other shows or other channels though I do know that some programs do not offer the CC option.
