yes, and they should not be allowed to own any of it. I live in Chicago's burbs and have no problems with the Hawks, Bulls, Sox and Cubs each owning 25% or however they want to divide it of a local sports channel. But that is it.

And they better not buy nbc and try to mess with CSN by merging CSN and NBC. There seems to be a wgn / tribune ties to CSN that I don't want to see going away.

looks like CSN will pick up an additional preseason game for the flyers next thursday.

    http://www.csnphilly.com/

flyers had listed only 3 preseason games on tv. the game next thursday isnt on the flyers website but on csn site they just added a game.

I heard a long time ago that the Spectrum in Philly housed all the hardware, etc. for Comcrap SportsNet Philly to broadcast by microwave and therefore the loophole. The building has stood empty since a year ago and maybe for that reason. Well I just read that they will start demo in November and be completed by December. Wonder if that is a good sign?

Would have helped if the FCC hadn't already closed the loophole. The hardware means nothing now. We're just waiting for a carriage agreement between Comcast and Dish/Direct... Comcast wanted to charge out the wazoo basically forcing another FCC hearing between the parties about fair pricing....ultimately dragging on their monopoly as long as possible.

as far as the hardware at the spectrum, the network prior to CSN philly was PRISM which broadcasted out of bala cynwd pa, thats where the signal was distributed.

but we will also see about in market online.

fox sports net and csn are talking to the NHL about offering team in market.

csn tried something like that last year with the sixers. you could watch any sixers game on csn or TCN inmarket but you had to have comcast service in order to sign up for it.

just another reason to prohibit a distributor, Comcrap, D*, E* from owning anything but trivial content.

The Spectrum continues to stand because of the cruddy economy. That's all - no secret motive. Sorry!

It seems a catch 22 to get in market Sixers or Flyers games you have to have Comcast any how .Which is stupid if you live in Phila. area and had their service you would be watching on CSN on tv.This is just another run around by Comcast for us DirecTv customers to not get our home team games.Like I. said before I,ll not go back to them after 4 yrs to their lousy DVR box and PQ.

Cablevision, Verizon FiOS, etc. have a similar in-market program going with YES in the NYC DMA for Yankee games.. you have to be a sub of one of those to get the games online but still have to pay extra.

Sorry..OK.. back to the OP. CSN Philly and D*.

I cut the comcast cord years ago. Went from Flyers season ticket holder to could care less if I can see a game on TV. PHillies are one OTA 1 - 2 times / week and that has turned out to be fine.

Once you cut the cord and pass the initial shock, you'll be surprised how much you won't miss the games. If enough people were willing to do that, maybe there would be more chance of CSN on D*.

I agree (somewhat) I have been a DTV customer since 1999 - fervent Flyers, Phillies Fan. I hate it that I can't see a majority of the games but I is ok to listen to the radio/streaming feeds (when available). At least now the rest of the Phillies games are on TV.

I truly believe that Comcast will "share" (i.e. charge DTV) for Comcast Sporstnet as the FCC has said they should do. It may be awhile (2A/3Q2011?) but I am convinced that my decade + wait will end with Philly sports in HD on DTV. It (terrestrial loophole) defies logic and has to end, right?
I have no facts to back this up (outside of FCC statement, and the likely NBCU+Comcast Merger conditions.)

Although I haven't said anything new, I think that there is a pin-sized light at the end of the long tunnel. Time will tell if that light is hope or a Roberts Piloted train about to run non-comcast subsribers over...
