I'm aware that you said the RSN is part time, but you continue to lay blame on DirecTV for this status. Case in point...

DirecTV can't broadcast full time HD when the RSN isn't providing full time HD. CSN Bay Area only provides HD for GAMES. The rest of the time, they broadcast only SD. The RSN's that have a full time channel are providing an HD signal full time.

As to Giants/A's games not being in HD.... I haven't followed the A's, but I watch every televised Sharks game in it's entireity, and I at least "check in" on every televised Giants game on CSN (don't get Fox-2 down here). I usually print out the CSN schedule at the beginning of the season for each team, and I've yet to see a game that was scheduled to be in HD NOT be broadcast on DirecTV.

I imagine that one of two things is happening if your family is seeing games in HD that aren't on DirecTV. Either Comcast is providing a channel for HD fulltime, and simply broadcasting the SD signal on that channel for times when the HD signal is unavailable - making it appear that the channel is "full time HD". Or, they're deciding "last minute" to broadcast some games in HD, and Comcast is better suited to handle those last minute changes than DirecTV is.

I can say with near certainty, though, that the games DirecTV broadcasts in HD will match the schedule you see on CSN's website.

I am not arguing your point. I simply said that that some of the games this summer were on HD but started 1 hour later due to guide error. The guide said 7 on SD side and the game was on at 7 however on the HD side the guide said 8 and 1 hour of the game was missed. In other words somebody screwed up and this happened a few times.

Admittedly, I don't pay much attention to the guide.. I know that a few times when the channel first went live, there were those kind of errors. After the first week of the hockey season, it didn't happen again.... for the Sharks, anyway. :)

Since I don't watch every inning of every Giants game, it's entirely possible that there were late starts that I missed.

I don't know how the "switch flip" works at DirecTV, so I'm not sure what's going on there. My response was intended to point out that the part time channel is not something that DirecTV is doing, but rather something that CSN is doing because they just aren't broadcasting 24/7 in HD right now.

On the upside, you get to live in Galena Forest, pretty awesome! (I live in Fallon).
