Any word if this new Portland, Or channel will be caried on Direct TV? Apparently they are planning on showing all of the games in HD that play on this channel this year. Do they have any of the RSN in HD now? Does anyone know if they will carry this on HD?

    Thanks.

I can't answer your question, but considering that 55 Blazer games will be on Comcast SportsNet Northwest this year and the fact that the fan base is coming back it would be very smart for DirecTV to carry this channel. If there was ever a time when Blazer fans would actually cancel DirecTV and switch to Comcast this might be the year.

28 of the 36 home games will be in HD. I tried to post a link which states this, but I can't since I'm under 5 total posts. You can find the info at wikipedia.

I haven't seen an update for a while. Comcast said the channel would be made available to satellite TV broadcasters. However, Oregonian reported that Comcast was seeking $2 per subscriber for the channel. When I saw how much Comcast is asking, I am not very optimisitic.

BTW, I should mention the only glimps of hope is that the person Comcast put in charge for Comcast Sportsnet Northwest seems to be pretty good. He was the person that launched the golf channel and the tennis channel. If he could bring those two channels (and the HD versions of them) to DirecTV, maybe he can bring this channel, too. Forget HD. I'd take SD first.

I don't quite understand what RSN spot beam we are supposed to get. We don't get Mariner in HD, either, do we?

When was the last time D* did NOT add a sports channel?? Expect D* to sign on and carry it since they have a relationship with Comcast now in that they call all their RSNs cept for the Philly exclusive one.

The Mtn. is as close to being a Comcast exclusive as you can get. Its not on many cable outlets or on E*. I'll give you the tennis channel though.

It's been rolled out very quickly. It will basicallytake over what FSNW was doing, as far as the good sports go.

But Mariners are still on FSN.

I really don't know how CSN NW will fill up its time. They said they would also broadcast college and highschool games.

Lots of SportsNite and CFL football. That is pretty much what we get since the Orioles left CSN MidAtlantic.

Heard on OPB this morning that someone is organizing a boycott against Comcast.
    http://news.opb.org/article/rural-blazers-fans-begin-boycott-over-cable-deal/

Learned something new today. I knew Comcast paid Blazers a lot of money. I didn't know it was $120 million. No wonder Comcast will handle it like an exclusive channel. The trouble I see is that unlike NFLST, Comcast doesn't even serve many of the constituency. They are pretty much urban centric.
