Can I get some comments from those of you who put a DP Twin on the 61.5(against my recommendations)? I'd like to update my thread about what you get when you do a switch check in this config and any problems you may have had. Thanx

I am going to be installing a dish dp500 twin on friday. (as long as the DP21 comes from dish store on time) So I will let you know how it goes.

I also am having dish come back out to check my equipment, my 311 reciever is messed up, it thinks it is connected to a SW64 when it is connected to a DP34 so I only get one satellite and that is the 105. 4 freaking channels from that one. my 811 and 522 work just fine and see the sats, although the 811s signal strength is WAY too low (low 50's for 119, so much money for HBO and the rest of the movie channels and cannot watch them at all) hopefully the third time with the installers will finally fix all the problems.

I have a dish 500 with the Y bracket and a DPTwin, works absolutely perfect. I see a DPTwin on my switch check from my all my receivers (721, 522, and 921). I used a 301 for signal and peaking when I put in the dish for 61.5 and it saw it correctly also. I am getting signal strenght above 95 on all TP's that I have checked (and can "see" :) )

After tweaking, I ran the 61.5 feed into my DP34 with trunks to a DPP44. (I know, i only need the DPP44, but I already had two lines run to the 921 so I figured to keep the 34 up.) No problems since installed (5/5/05) the dish other than it raining 6 hours after setting the pole in concrete so it took forever to dry completely.

What does it say on the switch matrix screen? And note that some recevier will list the matrix and attached LNBs differently, so you may need to try all 3 receivers to see what they say.

(sorry about the alignment, I can't get this any better)
    Ok, my setup is this:
    Dish500 DP Twin (110,119)
    Dish500 DP Twin( 61.5)
All three lines come into my DP34 and get trunked to DPP44

Off the DP34 is my 921
    921 Matrix:
    110 119 61.5
    Twin Twin Twin
    DP34 Verified

Off the DPP44 are my 721 and 522
My wife is watchin American Idol so I can't check the 522, but my 721 shows:

    110 119 61.5
Twin Twin Feed (never seen that)
    DPP 44 verified.
    EDIT:----
My 522 is showing the same info as my 721. 61.5 is listed as a FEED.
    End Edit

When I had just the 301 plugged in on 61.5 setup, all it was hooked too and it saw the twin as a twin also.

Well, a swing and a miss for me. The initial unobtrusive location I had planned is looking into the neighbor's tree. I tried another location but the tree is still interfering. I can see the sat on my meter but can't get enough signal for it to lock. Looks like tomorrow I will have to go for one of the more visible points in the yard. I think I better take the wife out to dinner tonight! ;)

I have a superdish 121 using a dp34 switch. hooked up a dish 500 with a dp twin and used a dp 21 to join the dp34 and the dp twin to my 811 reciever. It works great no probs at all. DP44 is just to $$$ for having 1 811 and a 311

Nothing against not using a DPP44, I am just surprised that more people don't check ebay. I got my DPP44 for $50 incl. shipping NIB. Most auctions over there for DPP44 close for less than $100 shipped. I know, it's still $100, but not the $180-$200 other sites have them for.

I have a D500 Twin pointing at 61.5. Has a nice sig, 120-125 pointing thru some pine tree's. Havent had any problems, and was no problem installing it. For a switch check I get.
    Connected to a DPP44-500 with 4 inputs.
    Port1 DP Feed 110
    Port2 DP-Dual-1 119
    Port3 DP-Twin-1 61.5
    Port4 DP Feed 105

I was thinking about installing a single lnbf on the 500. But I tried it first with the twin, and it has a nice signal, so I just left it alone.

Just wanted to add - the above is what's seen on a 311, 522 and 301's. I also have a 2700, I dont see a detailed list for check switch. But it show's:

    Installed switch model: SW21 4-SAT

    1A-1 1B-1 2A-1 2B-1 3A-1 3B-1 2 2
    110 110 119 119 61.5 61.5 105 105
ODD EVEN ODD EVEN ODD EVEN ODD EVEN

I've got a 20" Bell ExpressVue dish with Dish Pro Quad LNB (just happened to be cheaper than a single or double), into a DPP44. Only using one lead to the Quad LNB to pick up 61.5. Works great! Signal is coming in around 100 or so for most transponders.

I added 61.5 with a DP Twin. I used your instructions and foiled the 110 side. First attempt there was a tree in the line of sight so I had to move up onto the roof. Got a clear shot and hooked the twin directly into a spare 508 to use for pointing along with my meter. Signal strengths came in between 80 and 105. Connected it along with my DP34 using a DP21. Output 1 of DP34 into input 1 of DP21. DPTwin into Input 2 of DP21. Output of DP21 to my 6000. I had trouble getting the switch check to work. Initially could only see the 110 and 61.5 sats. Read a couple other posts and then tried the switch check as a SuperDish with 4 Sat checked. First time it missed one half of 119. Tried the check again and it got everything. 61.5, 110,119,148.

So you can use a DP twin on a 500 dish for 119 & 110 with a DP twin on 61.5 and feed it all to a DP 3 to 4 switch?

I disconnected my DP single on 61.5 the LNB is definetely bad.
    '
I happen to have a DP twin so I should be good to go?

I am moving the 61.5 dish, in the winter its locatrion isnt ideal. I am moving it to a less tree effected place, that happens to be easier to access, for snow clearance. the dish currently is on the edge of a 12 foot high wall, and I dont enjoy clearing snow off it, as ice occasionally covers the ground there:(

Yes, a DP Twin works fine. I followed Larry's instructions and covered the 119 side. I think this just keeps you from getting confused when aligning the dish. I did the alignment with the Twin connected directly to the receiver. I also have a meter that was connected so it is easier when i am up on the roof. I called Dish and the VOOM channels came on during the phone call.

I think larry said to cover the 110 side. If not, then it's a typo.

You should always use the 119 side when using a Twin for a single bird.

    Okay,

I finally have time to write this, I installed mine last week. skipped a couple of the steps like covering half of the LNB but I am locked with around 120 signal strengths so I think it should be fine. got the 105 superdish and the DP34 so I had everything I needed, I spent like 15 bucks for the DP21 and grabbed some cable, so for 20-25 bucks I got it done. I had to argue with the CSR for about 10 minutes, he did not understand that I had the Dish already so he kept wanted to schedule an install, finally had to get a little crappy and told him to just turn them on. all was fine on friday night, except for some reason, my 301 died the same death that my 311 eleven died, in the same room, but all the other recievers work fine, the 301 now only sees one sat. I am waiting on dish to send me a new 311 but it has been over a week and nothing. but back to Voom. The CSRs do not like the 34-21 route so that was more argueing trying to get the 311 fixed. But at some point the day after I installed the 21 I lost everything on the 811.

No switches found nothing. after being highly ticked for about half an hour I went and checked the switch. someone has unplugged the the cable to the switch. plugged it in and tried again, nothing, could not get any channels. so I had to unhook it. and plug just the 34 in, so this was saturday the 28. decided sunday to try again, and plugged it all back in, ran the check switch and everything is back.

I am glad to say that I have not had any problems.

man that was a long weekend.
