Anyone know when The Cooking channel (channel 232) will be shown in actual HD. It is broadcast in 1080i but is obviously stretched to fit and in stereo not 5.1

The Cooking Channel isn't offered in HD on DirecTV, yet. If you're seeing it in 1080i stretched you are either have your receiver set to only show everything in 1080i or your TV is set that way.

Yeah like the user above said its not offered in HD, and hell its not even in HD yet so its not anything Direct can do anything about it.

    Directly From Cooking Channel Site:
    COOKING CHANNEL HIGH DEFINITION (HD)
Cooking Channel is not currently available in High Definition.

Go Into your settings on your directv and go to hdtv and change it from Stretch To Pillar Box.

I think Dish has it in HD. Now, not all the shows are necessarily in HD, but it seems like that statement on their site should be outdated.

Yeah it appears it might be outdated now. I still dont see a huge market for this channel to be in hd i dont see it being watched by many.

Yep. I have it on Dish. Uverse and several cable systems also have it. It's mostly just Food network re-runs.
