Because we don't have an over the air CW affiliate we used to get the CW from Washington D.C .affiliate But Today it was changed to the Green Bay CW affiliate. I talked to the @DirectvService twitter feed and they told me that it changed because of FCC regulations. I don't buy that. Does anybody here know what's up?

Where in Michigan do you live? That would tell a lot. Is the Green Bay CW HD?

If there is a CW affiliate in your area, they are required to provide it. They can only provide the Washington DC one if you don't have one in your viewing area. You must have had one added recently, so they dropped the Washington DC one and gave you the local one.

Over the Summer CW had some re-organization especially with Tribune, for instance WGN on Channel 9 in Chicago have lost the CW and it's now on Fox 50 which used to be the UPN channel. Looks like a similar thing has happened in Green Bay, CW has moved to channels and is now on one that serves the UP

Dave I know this is old! But I'm in Illinois and I had WGN which at 7pm turned into CW primetime but they wanted Cubs and whitesox and they kept bumping show's so WGN wanted to be independent so as you say CW primetime in Illinois is now CW 50 unfortunately DirecTV did not know and I noticed my show's like supernatural weren't coming on.So I called DTV they didn't know and told me to try 1008 nope ok try changing 4 nope I was online on DTV according to my zip and it's still showing CW Chicago it's WPWR in the day it's local and should be in there locals I receive but it's not at 7pm it turns into CW 50 out of Gary Indiana Now how can this be screwed up still upon doing a search I tried WPWR it said of.not found I put in 50 not found I also tried WPWR 50 not found. But 8 months or longer I called CW in California and chewed them out for not advertising this and tweeted the same.just this month it shows the preview for iZombie and said check out the new CW 50 Wow a whole year later and myself being annoying finally! So now I think I should start calling DTV since they still don't know! I had to Google it last year and found the info on TV line

I'm not sure I can tell exactly what happened based on the post, but I know that the CW affiliation switch in Chicago happened on September 1, 2016 -- I was in Chicago in October, and I noted that ads for CW shows were pretty much everywhere, showing their new channel number:

(I took this photo because I interned at WPWR in 1996, back when they were a UPN affiliate, and wanted a record of their new logo and affiliation.)

If you were expecting The CW to force WGN to air promos for a competitor's station, that's not gonna happen for multiple reasons. (They can't force WGN to air promos telling people to watch a competitor, so the only options would have been to air the ad nationally, have CW or WPWR buy ad time on WGN) This isn't isolated to The CW either, Boston went through the same thing when NBC left WHDH, while nationally back in 2002, even though Disney was programming Fox Kids for the final few months, they were not allowed to air promos telling viewers their favorite Fox Kids shows are moving to ABC and ABC Family or cross-promote the ABC Family block that overlapped Fox Kids during the transition.

Even if you missed every single billboard, radio and local newspaper ad, DirecTV has an on screen guide, unless you have a favorites list that you refuse to check outside of, WPWR isn't that far away from WGN and is only 3 channels away from Chicago's Fox affiliate in the guide. Searching for Supergirl, The Arrow, The Flash or whatever other CW series you like would have shown the WPWR airings too. And if all else failed, simply going to Google and typing in "CW Chicago" would have brought up multiple articles covering the change back when it was first announced in May.
