And if it is real, OP, PM me his email and phone number and I will try to find you better contact info.

It is always fun when someone tries to screw me online like that and I call them or show up out of the blue and ask WTF they think they trying to do.

I didn't contact DirectTV yet because I'm waiting couple of days to see if he calls me back.

And when I do call DTV, what am I supposed to say? Hey, I paid this guy $300 for free international programming from DTV for life and now the programming doesn't work. They'll probably think that I did something illegal and get me in trouble.

I'd rather just take the dish down, and consider $300 a costly mistake.

Plus, why would I even make any of this sh*t up? I have nothing to gain from this situation. I'm just asking people who know a lot more than me about satellite for advise.

DirecTV isn't going to care about your activities. They're looking at a much bigger picture. If this guy did this to you, he did it to a lot of people. Now in your case, you're getting Searching for Satellite Signal which means that you're receiver isn't getting a signal (rather obvious), not that DirecTV or the guy has shut it down (unless he came and removed the LNB as stated previously).

    It's simple.
Call DirecTV, Tell them you contacted a guy from craigslist, he came out and set you up with some gear.
If DirecTV is going to press any charges, they're going to offer you immunity to testify against the other guy.

And make sure you contact DIRECTV Signal Integrity at 1-800-830-6090.
Do not call their regular customer support.

I hope you're not serious. I use Craigslist all the time. Common sense needs to be applied. -1 to you.

Until this actually happens I will continue to recommend against Craigslist. Most people don't have ANY common sense anymore...the whole reason you constantly read about Craigslist horror stories.

Didn't your mama ever teach you how to play the innocent? Call Signal Integrity as suggested and tell them the guy said he could provide DirecTV for you. Tell them all things he did and how the programming worked briefly. No need to mention the free part.

So you know you're doing something illegal. Gotcha.

Seems it's time to move on as this thread is probably moving into areas that aren't appropriate for DBSTalk ..
