Anyone think we will get Hallmark Movie and Hallmark Movie Channel in HD soon? Here's a direct quote from Directv Wikipedia:
ESPNU HD will be added by March 31, 2010.
A recent DirecTV newsletter indicated the new DirecTV-12 satellite will be used to add more premium movie channels in HD.
A new carriage agreement gives DirecTV the rights to carry the HD feeds of Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel.

Not that I really watch Hallmark or Hallmark Movie channel however I was wondering what anyone heard about this statement because I'm not holding my breath on ESPNU HD by March 31st. However We all know the addition of more HD Premium Channels is true.

Satellite Racer posted on the new channels thread this morning. Here is his post.

They should start in late April but nothing official yet. These are all targets guys, but the prep work is starting so that they can be ready for late April to start adding HD channels. They will NOT all come at the same time, so you can expect that there will be some waves of rollouts. Some larger, some smaller.

First, the last place you should look for information about nearly anything is Wikipedia, especially not info about DirecTV.

As has been repeatedly discussed, the ESPNU-HD information was the information BEFORE the launch of D12 was delayed. You will not see ESPNU-HD by March 31.

DirecTV has signed new agreements with HallMark for both channels and for both SD and HD feeds. No date has been announced.

If you want any ACCURATE information about channels consult postings by Satelliteracer.. anything else you read is a lot of uninformed crap.

I would actually say that if you want accurate information, you will get it at about 5 am on a channels launch day. I can't recall sat'racer ever saying definitively that we would get any channel other than locals prior to the launch. I am not sure when Sixto sees the name of the stream. Maybe I will go reread some posts after work.

Given the fact Satellite Racer posted this morning that the new HD Channels will come in waves beginning at the end of April, then there is no problem. he would know if there was something amiss. Obviously there is not.

Why is it so secretive? Why not at least just tell us which channels we'll be getting? Wouldn't it be in their best interest to do so? It seems like it would attract more new subs and reduce churn.

I'd like to see BBC America in HD if only for Doctor Who starting in April.

As has been repeated many times... they won't give out that information for the very simple reason that you read in posts on this forum.

If anything goes wrong at the last minute, no matter how good the reason, people will call them "liars" "incompetent" "idiots" and every other name in the book. So why should they bother?" When they are ready to do the deed, they'll let us know.

Since I don't live my life to read this board due to having a life outside of the internet it is possible that I may have missed a post or 2. My sincerest apologies.:D

But they could easily just place a disclaimer stating that the channels are pending and subject to change without notice.

Like if they told us we would have ESPNUHD by 3/31/10 or stuff like that.

I am sure it is because they don't want to announce any more than they have to, in case something goes wrong between now and channel launch day.

Uh Uh.. no one will even acknowledgte the disclaimer existed, just whine that DirecTV failed. Kind of like the way people keeping harping about ESPNU-HD... press release from last year about it being ready on March 31, 2010. Of course we have all known since last fall that the D12 satellite was delayed in its launch.. but some of us fail to grasp the concept.:nono2:

The point is you said directv doesnt give out info like that.
So if they dont give out info like that then why did they give out the ESPNUHD info ?

People nerdrage when the people with inside contacts don't have stuff pan out as planned and they never guarantee any of the info they post. It's always subject to change at the last minute. Can you imagine if Directv started to give out future dates for new channels with the *subject to change at the bottom of the webpage and failed to deliver? It would be chaos on these boards on how Directv lied to us and failed once again and this is why you will rarely see Directv post that info.

It was a joint ESPN DirecTV press release made when ESPNU-HD signed the SEC contract and they were discusiing the upcoming carriage agreements.

Seems odd that a giant company like D* would let whiners and nerdrage get in the way of making announcements.

The roughly 88,000 members of DBStalk represent less than 1/3 of one percent of the subscribers to Directv and Dish, so our views don't necessarily represent those of the broader customer base.

It may be driving many of us crazy that we don't know what new HD channels are coming and when they'll be turned on, but the vast majority of Directv's customers are perfectly happy and will be pleasantly surprised when those new channels get turned on.

That being said, I want my ding-dang BBC-A-HD, dagnabbit! Hurry up already, D*! ;)

It could have something to with the fact that publicly traded companies live under a different set of rules.

Or the fact that the mere anticipation in all of these threads keeps us wondering, posting, anxious, posting, hyperventilating, posting, cranky…etc. for new channels. Kinda makes one wonder what the posting count in all these forums would be if we didn’t have to wait or guess.

In all probability, the new channels will get here when they get here. Until then, Happy Posting!!!:hurah:
