Any hope of getting NAT GEO WILD HD at it's start date?
Since Satelliteracer has noted that DirecTV will start rolling out new channels at the end of April, I doubt it...
Encore HD, Nat Geo Wild, Travel Channel HD and BBC America HD. I will be happy
I anticipate this thread being closed in 12 days and then a new thread with a much more pleasant outcome being started.
They usually don't because people start obsessing with every little thing that they say, and whine and complain when they hear rumors that what they said might not come true on the date they said. Then if it does happen on the date they quietly slink away. If it doesn't happen on the date then they really freak out and call them liars, call in and complain ask for their money back, etc. Or keep posting about how they said something 2 years ago and they never kept their promise.
So it's usually easier for them to just let it all happen in the background, put the channels up and make sure they are working, then say "Hey guys we added blah blah blah this morning".
As far as ESPNU-HD goes I don't remember did D* even announce it, or did ESPN announce that they signed a deal with D*?
Say goodbye to new HD channels in April.
It may or may not have any impact at all. It could extend things up to 30 days, but it may not. That is just the window of time available to them for testing at that location. Late April is still very, very possible.
...because people like you have nothing better to do than complain...
Maybe they read your constant comments moaning about the ESPNU HD announcement and decided to withhold future info. There...that must be it. Yes, I blame you.
Im not complaining....im just saying that they mentioned that channel in a press release & even gave a date when they really didnt have to in the first place.
Its kinda like how their commercial says directv now has the capacity for over 200 HD channels when in reality without the new sat they really dont....so they are already assuming the new sat is up & running....nobody told them to do/say that but they did anyway.
This is a good point. I for one am personally sick of seeing all the commercials on television that Directv has bashing all the other competitors boasting of their "200" HD Channels. In the newest commercial they actually say they have "200" HD Channels. really where? Technically he has a point. If I were to tell youthat I have a million dollars and you check my checking accounts and my assets and you discover I really don't have a million dollars, but I am basing this claim on a job that I have on deck that will make me a millionare. Wouldn't I technically be making false claims? afterall What happens if my job falls thru and I went on National Tv telling everyone I was a millionare before I even landed the job in the end I would look like a real Jack*** !!! Just a thought
One of the reasons they don't make announcements about go live dates for upcoming channels. DirecTV is a strong believer in "Don't count your chickens before they hatch".
Unless they're running commecials that say they have capacity for 200 HD channels
Well, they are now saying "new HD channels in April" in their website.
probably last week in April?
There is a big difference between statements of having the capacity for channels and giving go live dates and channel names, which is what I was referring to in my initial post.
I do notice one thing in their commercial, that has changed lately. Where it states "now with the capacity for 200+ HD channels", which gives you the impression they are saying D12 is fully functional. The ads used to say "soon" instead of "now".
I take it.
If folks are going to complain about claims made in commercials...they will be very busy for the rest of their lives.
Rumors "on the other forum" about new HD channels , look at it with a ton of salt though:
The Africa Channel
The Hallmark Movie Channel HD
WGN America HD
The same channels have been object of speculation for a while.
I don't like any of them. I want AMC and Travel, plus more premiums.
I think Africa is a new channel, supposed to be in HD soon, but some news recently suggests it will remain in SD. Fearnet is a channel or a VOD ?
I think this has been posted before and more or less debunked, as FEARnet is a website, not a channel...
