talking about fox and HD what about Fox College Sports? Directv has HD slots in the guild for it but I don't thing it has been used yet and no other system has Fox College Sports HD at all.

Nope, nothing that would stand up in court as proof.

I just believe that looking at the Los Angeles market, it is very likely that they will make an agreement.

It's not just the Lakers by the way, It's also L.A. Galaxy... which carries less weight of course, but has a pretty big following.

We know DirecTV's (and, perhaps, most other providers') policy is to not reveal potential negotiating agreements with future additional programming. But Los Angeles, California is the No. 2 designated marketing area in the country. It's the Los Angeles Lakers going with a brand-new launch of Time Warner Cable SportsNet (and its non-English companion, Time Warner Cable Deportes). It will be a priority. Especially given DirecTV being No. 1 leader in carrying sports programming.

I agree with you guys, but I just want to make sure we are all in agreement, that even though we all expect and think this will happen, no one from dtv has ever actually said anything that tells us to actually expect these channels as of yet.

I don't ever recall that. I've had HD since 2006 when there were 11 channels. Dont ever remember having spt beam rsn.

If anyone from either DTV or TWC says *anything* at all.... I am sure you'll read it here! :D

    Yes...

After the SpaceWay's launched, and prior to D10 launching, some RSNs were carried in HD on them, but only in their respective markets if memory serves.

To my knowledge, I was not able to receive SportsSouth until they went CONUS even though it is one of my local RSNs, and I was well within the spot-beam, but those in the Atlanta DMA could get it.

Is Epix coming next month? Jim Norton has a special this Saturday airing on Epix. In telling people how they could see it, he threw out that it would be on Directv next month because they would be getting Epix. He could have gotten bad information, but I don't think he would just say that if he wasn't told that by someone.

I wouldn't put much faith in it. Why would he be told about channel negotiations that are supposed to be super secret?

It could be that it was part of his negotiation with Epix regarding their availability. They may have jumped the gun, or he let the cat out of the bag. If it is next month, negotiations may have already completed. ( Directv and Epix)

I wouldn't believe that until I see it, based on previous statements from DirecTV about not having any interest in carrying Epix. But those were made over a year ago, and things could have changed. It sure would be nice if it were true.

The first rule of negotiations is ALWAYS be sure to publicly express how desperate you are to get said item. That way, the seller is more compelled to offer the buyer a better deal! :p

Not saying that I expect EPIX or anything, but rather making the statement that DirecTV's comments are unimportant... especially now that it's been a couple of years!

Welcome to the dark side! :)

    P.S.: Your girlfriend's awesome! :D

Well.... maybe this is the HD that SatelliteRacer was talking about, where some might wish for different options. After all, it is NOT basic HD. :D

SatelliteRacer, if you are seeing this.... care to update us before the topic switches to Q3 so we have something to talk about? :D

Yeah, he was telling people that they could get a free trial on the Epix website to watch his special. Then he said that it would be on Directv next month. This was on the Opie and Anthony show on SiriusXM.

Isn't it sad how we are grasping on to *any* source just to get information about upcoming HD? We have passed by Swanni, and went straight for the comedians! :D

    Oh, wait... ;)

If Jim Norton now disappears under mysterious circumstances, we'll have a hint! ;)
