Actually this was not a straw man. Your main point used FIOS, his reply directly rebutted the FIOS portion.

Sure DIRECTV could use more HD. Thankfully more is coming. :)

    Cheers,
    Tom

If you are paying for channels you want in HD that D* doesn't have then why did you choose D*. They never made a promise to carry certain channels in HD. Sounds like you didn't do your homework as to which TV provider suits you best.

Amazingly enough, when you wave your wary wand of words, It has no effect. Go back and read my post (this time instead of cutting out the parts you think will help you wage some meaningless war on those that don't agree with you, how about attempting to absorb the written piece as a whole, in context.)

I am a fan of D* and I pay a good sum of money to have this service. That doesn't mean I am not allowed to be unhappy that I can't get the shows I want to watch, in HD.

It does not. It does not. It does not.

You can rant all day and night about how D* is better than sliced bread. I am here to talk about HD channel additions, and what I personally would like to anticipate being added in this quarter.

I know being off topic is your norm, but lets get back to the genesis of this thread. Please sir, for once. Really. For once.

BBCHD and AMCHD are both very popular channels in the cable realm and I would like to see them added.

The fact that you've spent the last 3 months recycling the same pointless banter doesn't make that reality any less fact or those channels any less anticipated by those that would like to see their addition.

It doesn't mean we hate DirecTV. It just means we'd like to see basic HD added.

And Fios has more basic HD, although Fios was a rider. Dish was the main point.

And FIOS is missing many "basic" HD channels that D* has. No provider has it all and there are many here that know that. Not to say that most here don't want more HD but calling those who see both sides of the argument "fanboys" is just pointless. Maybe if you didn't come off so harsh this wouldn't be a P*ssing match.

Even if FIOS was the rider, it was part. And the rebuttal was legit, not straw. That was my point. :)

    Cheers,
    Tom

According to this chart, their HD numbers are significantly higher than Directv's.

Personally, I'd keep Directv for the sports(particularly goltv), but there's no denying that both Dish and Verizon are way ahead of them when it comes to 'basic'.

A straw-man argument is taking a point out of context and making it the basis of an argument. Fios was not the basis of my argument.

That said, I made a mistake with its inclusion being it has caused confusion, so I ask that my statement be re-read without the word Fios, for clarity.

Speaking of HD channels, what's the best guess for BBCAHD and AMCHD being added. July?

    I always have hope. :D

Let us agree to disagree about Strawman arguments. And leave that out of the thread henceforth.

As for BBCA and/or AMC in HD, I only have hopes. Alas, I do not have any current whispers.

    Cheers,
    Tom

No one's denying that DIRECTV is behind in basics. They are behind and that's that.

And welcome to the forum, even though you don't seem "new." <redacted>

Mrs. Tibber is getting two puppies "soon". (The timing is up to her. I think she's waiting for spring to arrive first.)
