Note these are all locals, not part of the national capacity.

This also proves that Brett Favre is really retiring this time. His home, Hattiesburg-Laurel, Miss. is on the list. :)

    Cheers,
    Tom

Could Satellite Racer's post on the delayed start for Mad Men be a subtle hint that the AMCHD channel is delayed a long time too?

Good question, but I don't think so.

Just to recap in case you're just joining us, SR has confirmed more HBO and Cinemax by next month, he alluded to AMC HD, and a press release says tru TV "later this year". Any questions?

So, just give us AMC HD by the time season 2 of The Walking Dead, and I'll be happy that I don't have to download 720p rips of it on bit torrent / usenet.

Given that news is two weeks old. . . you kinda encourage me that you bring it up; you being you and all. :)

I've always felt that Cablevision spinning off Rainbow in 2H would be a key turning point.

The reasons are pretty self-explanatory. Cablevision has every reason in the world to license Rainbow properties *to other cable providers* while only licensing them to satellite providers on bad terms (for the satellite provider) if at all. And by providing AMC HD to the smaller of the two major satellite providers, create some legal protection for themself.

But an *independant* Rainbow, the incentives switch quite markedly. A new independent board of directors will have much more incentive to show in their first year why an independant Rainbow will "create shareholder value". Inking D* for HD would certainly help considerably in that campaign.

And the fact that every other provider now has AMCHD is a good sign that D* might be getting it soon.

That doesn't hurt either. :D Most deals get done on a "win-win" basis.

It's the one HD channel that our local cable company (Service Electric Cablevision) does not carry. But on their facebook page they said that they are interested in carrying it and are working on a deal. Who knows.

Drive 2 miles west into the Comcast system, they have AMC HD AND Fuse HD. I take it those sometimes come in pairs?

Popularity is in the eye of the beholder. Bloomberg Television is part of every standard DIRECTV package just as TruTV, AMC and BBCA are.

If you are a premium sub. For most of us, it is nothing.

TruTV shows nothing but stretch-o-vision HD
