Yes but watching paint dry on DIY HD would be so much more entertaining seeing the beads of paint and stain dry in such detail. And listening to power tools in surround sound just gives me chills thinking about it. :p

There seems to be more arguing and trying to get the last word in, than anything constructive or informative about anticipated HD channels. Possibly this blog needs to take a break until the 4th quarter.

How about shutting it down and letting everyone cool their jets for awhile...then maybe there can be some constructive comments.

To me, as it stands, this blog is rapidly approaching irrelevancy.

My wife still watches a goodly amount of DIY, but less than she used to; and I actively avoid it, waiting for "Holmes on Homes" shows to appear on HGTV, and not watching the other DIY-reno shows I'd like to watch. I think the whole "avoid SD" (at least non-upconverted, bit-starved SD) thing actually gets more acute the less (non-upconverted, bit-starved) SD you have to deal with in your life. It makes the remaining (ditto) SD even more intolerable. At least it is working that way for us. HGTV feels like "All Househunters All The Time" these days, and we watch a goodly amount of it. . .but we'd rather watch DIY, if it were HD. It'd be my wife's default channel if it were in HD.

H2 I'm kinda bitter about, as that is basically the content that we used to get in HD on the main History channel. Feels like a step back to no longer have it. Not D*'s fault, but there it is.

I see someone else has mentioned The Africa Channel, so it's nice to know it's still on some people's minds. Wasn't it rumored coming to DirecTV a while back? Whatever happened to that?

Please don't resort to being like Dish's FB page. It has taken on a little bit of humor too which is always welcome. What else are we supposed to talk about here until something is announced? I agree any personal attacks should be deleted and punished if necessary, but please don't close the thread.

My apologies for my choice of words. It was on-topic, and I did not think anybody would be offended by it.

Sixto said he'd be doing another poll soon. In the meantime, HLN ranked very high in the 2011 poll, so take heart! :)

I have to admit I was shocked when I realized HLN wasn't already in HD. News channels need to be in HD if for nothing more than to be able to read the text scrolling on the bottom of the screen, or any text on screen for that matter.

It may have said so in the past, but the Flix page on Wikipedia no longer says it's available in HD.

This is a discussion thread... discussing HD channels we are anticipation is going on.

It tends to go off-topic some, and when me and Tony's off-topic discussion had complaints, it was dropped. The current discussion appears to be on-topic to my eyes, but if not, I apologize and will keep my fingers behind my back if asked.

TV Land HD is one of my most wanted channels, and I wanted to explain my reasoning for wanting it after Satelliteracer's question.

FWIW, I grew up around a lot of women, and because of that, I have little experience getting the last word in, and really don't care if I do... ;)

H2 has to be the #1, or darn close to it, missing HD channel. I understand there are some other channels too that deserve HD, but the programming on H2 was never meant to be shown in SD when the content was created. I watched it all the time in HD on Dish and I don't think I have watched one minute of it on DirecTV. SD channels just need to die already. We suffered with them long enough. Have one HD feed and down convert it to display on SD TVs.

Someone may or may not know, and that someone may or may not tell you that ION HD may or may not come soon.

Works for me. But hey, it is owned by BBC WorldWide, why not stamp a recognizable name on it.

As I stated, I don't really care about GSN, and I doubt that's what Satelliteracer was doing, but they've been advertising the heck (pun intended) out of the new Jeff Foxworthy game show debuting next Thursday.

If it was coming soon, I would have expected it in testing already...
