I have to admit, I'm not a fan of any Viacom channels and can't think of one that I watch. And I would always bash the EPIX channels and couldn't understand why anyone would want DirecTV to carry them but as time has gone on and I have taken a look at them I really want all of the EPIX channels now. Can't believe I just admitted that. :)

They are the only add on I have on fios. They are good. Fios has 1 and 2 in HD plus the large On Demand and Epix streaming.

They started with little inventory but have grown a lot. Also, some of the best PQ on premiums I've seen.

I remember years ago EPIX having such a small inventory and just never took a look at it lately until now. But they have quite a bit now including comedy specials and a slew of boxing. I definitely would sub to the channels of they were added now. And this is coming from a Viacom hater. :)

Just tuned to it now. It's rolling credits, which look like bad SD. But maybe they do that now to save a bit of bandwidth. Will record next program.

OK, just started.... it's very soft, but fill the screen, no stretching.

Isn't TMCw an SD channel? I have it.

I have never understood why DirecTV doesn't add the epix channels to HD extra pack.

If that was seriously a big problem, don't you think that would be fixed? Keep in mind we on these DBS type forums on the Internet that know these things represent a very minuscule number in contrast to the 30+ million DirecTV subscribers. So if a few dbstalk readers (and other similar sites) do it, doesn't mean Joe Sixpack is aware of it or even computer literate enough to think about it.

Rumor had ittht epix wanted a set price to carry the channels. DIRECTV will only go for an a la cart format like HBO. That's the rumor. No way they should get a price regardless if subs. That's stupid assuming that was accurate.

All of the new Pivot Channel shows are in HD in On Demand. I expect this will be one of the new HD channels soon as a result.

Does anyone know how many providers carry Epix? It's on Fios and Dish (I think), but not on Directv or Comcast in my area.

I check what the others are offering every so often, and Comcast has not been adding anything. Directv is still way ahead as far as HD goes. I heard that Fios has even been removing channels, but they aren't in my city so I don't keep up on it.

Hi guys, I'm new here. I was just wondering what providers carried/will carry Nick Jr. HD and Nicktoons Network HD (which I've heard that it will launch on August 13th)? I've haven't heard any official news from Viacom about that yet...

Fios has been repackaging more than removing. Moving stuff up to higher packages but a lot of the selections and movement has been SD. They have added very little and been pretty much zero sum for the couple years I've had them in house.

Another question: Are Nick Jr. and BET West broadcasting in true HD or strech-o-vision? Hopefully someone answers both my questions. Thanks!

BET West HD is the same thing you see on BET East HD, just 3 hours later.

Like the rest of Viacom's channels any SD programming is pillar boxed. Only Nick Jr's recent productions and original programming on the Nick Mom block are in HD.

As for any providers, it's very rare for any providers to pick it up the first day. Usually it takes time for them to get the equipment installed at each headend.
