Agree. More HD is always a good thing. Hopefully we see other HD additions this quarter as well.

I think the Chiller situation has been discussed and no one was convinced those providers had an actual HD version, even though they said they did.

I cannot imagine a channel spending the money to do HD and then limit it to small cable companies this long.

I think Mtv2 HD was first on some small systems. Also Universal Sports HD is having slow pick up.

The odd thing, to me, is that DirecTV isn't testing/adding Home Shopping Network HD at the same time as QVC HD. I don't believe HSN HD will be delayed getting added to the lineup until after D14 gets launched in 2014.

DirecTV does some things that are real head-scratchers.

I wonder if the corporate kinship between Liberty Media and DirecTV Group has anything to do with it?

    That is weird.

I see no one carrying Universal Sports HD.

In my Detroit, Michigan area, I have the following cable-television providers: AT&T U-verse, Comcast, DirecTV, Dish Network, and Wide Open West (WOW).

Not one of them carries Universal Sports HD.

Some areas serviced by Bright House Networks had me recently look up whether Universal Sports HD is carried by Bright House. That is because this is one operator that has been outstanding at bringing in the linear high def of a given programmer. Hell, it carries ShopNBC HD and Military Channel HD. None of the others do.

So does Bright House Networks carry Universal Sports HD? No! In fact, Bright House isn't carrying Universal Sports in standard def. And the same thing with … Comcast. (I'll provide links to both.)

    I wonder what explain this.

Any sightings of Chiller-HD are most likely upconversions of the SD feed. There is no Chiller HD feed on any satellite, so a HD feed would have to be delivered by terrestrial means - EXTREMELY unlikely when you consider which two cable systems list "Chiller HD" in their lineups.

Honestly, for a case like this, we don't need his confirmation. We're reading this off the satellite, and DirecTV hasn't messed with us before by putting up test channels for a laugh. Though he did tell us HD in 3rd quarter.

:) yeah I know. I still appreciate his input though and he hasn't commented on any HD additions in a while.

As someone who watches more and more Spanish TV, I have a gut feeling those two alongside beIN espanol are just around the corner for new HD Channels.

Now If only the Sports Pack were to include Fox Soccer Plus in full time HD, Universal Sports HD, One World Sports, and the recently launched Italia International TV channel, D* may actually gain a few more Sports Pack subscribers.

Why don't Spanish language channels have English SAP available? It seems more people would benefit from an English translation of a Spanish channel than a Spanish translation of an English channel.

You know what's a head scratcher... GSN is not in HD on DirecTV. GSN HD looks good actually, seen it on 4 cable providers right here in Pennsylvania (Comcast, Service Electric, Blue Ridge, RCN).

Isn't DirecTV part owners of GSN?

Then you have AMC and IFC in HD, but not WE or FUSE. AMC Networks bundles all 4 of them in the same stream, so DirecTV is using a cherry picker to skim only 2 of the 4 to be served.
