I dont watch soccer either...I mean, I'll watch for a few minutes, but soccer is kinda foreign to me...I grew up with football(the kind with a helmet) and baseball, hockey.. so soccer was never a big thing for me...

That doesnt mean that I dont see a point for it....I know there is a great amount of people that love soccer and do appreciate the GOL and Fox Soccer...

But personally, I would rather see AMC, BBC, Cinemax, Tru, G4, E! .... No offense to ya soccer guys...Just aint my thing...

    TCMHD, AMCHD, FMCHD, BBCHD.

Just feel an urge to state what I'd like to see once in a while. Even if it"s a snowballs chance of ever happening.

Wont happen as long as there are sports channels DirecTv can spend their money on. As long as they have the bandwidth to use, why use it on something customers want like BBCHD? They can use it to entice customers who dont have BBCHD to watch, and are crusing the guide, into watching one of the movie$ they show OVER and OVER with 30 minute start times (like customers dont have a DVR?).

Apparently its making them money not worrying about core HD channels, so I dont expect them to jump through hoops to add anything they cant make an extra dime on.

Unfortunantly, I dont think it is DirecTv. I get those SEC games (a lot of them) on my FTA system, directly from the uplink, and at least for the few teams I try to watch each week (Arkansas, LSU and Ole Miss), most of the games last year were uplinked in SD, or widescreen SD. Perhaps this year will be different.

Loos like BBC america and AMC have a lot of folks looking forward to Dtv picking up their HD feeds. I gave up on waiting and now buy my Mad Med and Doctor Who from XBoX live.......at least I don't have to watch commercials

I don't get the soccer bashing either, personally I don't watch but it's great we have it in HD and there are obvously people who do want to watch it. Myself I want DIY in HD, that being said I know there is quite a lot of interest in adding BBCA and AMC. Hopefully we see a bigger "Festivus" soon.

If it's any consolation, there are alternate realities where DirecTV already has 1000s of HD channels which include every event and program imaginable under the sun all in full 8192p-glory and also where everyone makes a six-figure salary, has an 8192p-capable HDTV set with a 5' screen, wants for nothing, has a raging metabolism and lives to 150 years old. Oh, and the best part, there's only a 3-day work week for 4-hours per day and all of the women-folk are fit and beautiful. I'm spending a few hours in my lab each week to create a device which will send me there. Then, I'll just bump off my duplicate, if there is one or instead just try to send him back here.

Oh and I forgot to mention, every episode of your favorite TV show is a new one there. They don't do seasons or repeats and there is no advertising. As a matter of fact, the economy is moot, as prices are always kept just at the right price and pay is always plentiful.

DirecTV has the space available. Perhaps they should develop a PBA Bowling HD channel. For those who love college sports, lacrosse and water polo should probably have their own channels.

Much better than AMC, BBC, TCM. Gotta see all sports in HD. :)

The simple fact is there are a lot more soccer matches to show from all over the world than hockey games in North America. I would say hockey technically has more channels because many RSNs are dedicated to a hockey team and maybe one other local sports team.

I'd like to see nude women playing soccer in HD and on 24/7. (ok, not totally nude, they can wear shoes, socks, and shinguards)

That might improve the ratings a little.

The latest Q2 #'s don't refute this theory. 500,000 new subs. 400,000 are Latin American.

I agree, I don't think that people are so much against Soccer channels being added, but that they are the only channels being added. They are angry because the most popular national HD channels are being delayed and soccer is what is delaying them. I don't believe that but it is a perception that is out there. Maybe they should just wait until they have enough channels for a real festivus instead of adding one channel at a time.

Gee, I thought I was the typical WASP. To find out I am probably Latino (despite the fair complexion, blue eyes and red hair) because I enjoy soccer, will require me to check my ancestry again.
    :eek2:

Come to think of it, I do enjoy Mexican food...
