I'm seeing indications that we'll have Netflix built into the PS3 (won't need the disc anymore) sometime next month with DD5.1 coming before the first of the year.

The audio thing is being worked on in conjunction with closed captioning, lot of content is available with CC now when streamed to PCs.

What? Do you a source for this claim that Comcast is using CSN Philly as ransom over Sunday Ticket? If so, that would be completely illogical. The NFL offered the exclusive rights. DirecTV simply agreed to the terms. In the scenario you suggested, Comcast would hold the NFL over a fire and not DirecTV. If Comcast wanted it so bad, they should have outbid DirecTV.

Well, I know the integrated Netflix option is coming next month (rather than the disc option we have now). I hadn't heard that DD5.1 was being incorporated into that update as well. We'll see I suppose.

I think you are right, absent MSGHD and VS for hockey I could easily live with my netflix subscription, my antenna and streaming video. I have given serious thought to suspending service from late May until early October. $400 saved per year is looking better and better if they do not get everything else of interest by next spring.

They don't really have a choice, there are a couple of things going on

First BBCA can't be supported by the UK licence payer and so has to fend for itsself within BBC Worldwide and so can't get subsidised programming from BBC UK

BBC Worldwide also has to find the best deal it can for its programming so if someone like Showtime wants to pay more for Shameless than BBCA can afford then the show has to go to Showtime. Partly because selling it for less to BBCA would be giving it a subsidy but also some of the Actors in the shows have deals giving them a percentage of future sales and so start complaining if BBC World sells it less than they could have got elsewhere which would have given them a bigger cheque.

David Duchovney did the same to Fox he claimed they were selling the X-files to other worldwide Fox stations for less than they could have got from other channels

That and a smile might buy you a cup of coffee, but there are still holes in DaveC27's comment.

Yeah, that was explained to me recently (perhaps by you?), but I still think it's sad for BBC America in which some of the BBC's most popular programming is aired on channels OTHER than BBC America.

As for your "Shameless" comment, I'm confused as it is aired on Sundance (Rainbow Media)?!

Showtime is airing an "American" remake (ala "The Office")...

If I lived alone, I would get all my media online or OTA.

If you are asking if more HD channels are coming, then yes. Have any been officially announced and not yet received? No. The tango continues.

You asked for a source. harsh replied with a link to a site that posts information about ratings. While it might support PARTS of DaveC27's statement, it isn't necessarily proof of anything.

I stated my thoughts on the matter here.

An easy way to remember whether or not it's Sundance or Showtime? Sundance isn't available in HD! ;)

I kind of went on a soap box before. What I orginally intended to post (although I was very serious). We keep paying more but I don't get any more of what I want to watch.

Anyway. Here's my lighter hearted post.....

Alright. Come on D14 so we can get another 8 National HD Channels! WOOOHOOO.

    ;)
