The problem with the tango argument has always been that it works better with trees than with the forest (to mix metaphors). When a given tree doesn't want to tango, you can argue equal fault or more fault for the tree. When nobody in the forest wants to tango with you, it's time to change deodorant, or call up the queer eye for the straight guy boys.

Aside from the "TV Everywhere" factor, I've had to wonder if D* is trying to stretch this process out as much as they can to make the programming costs not look as sharply upwards for the financial analysts. That we could be looking, from satrac's dates, at slipping the next Festivus into the next financial quarter gives some more indications in that direction.

After watching the newly released trailer for 'The Walking Dead' (http://bit.ly/a5qUGN, basically 28 Days Later as a series), which is coming to AMC on October 31st, I have to jump on the AMC HD bandwagon. Come on, D*! :)

It seems like "The Walking Dead" is getting more buzz than most of the new Fall shows on the broadcast networks... :D

Breaking Bad is also a must see. I would never watch a movie on AMC but the original programming is terrific. Unfortunately, it's a torture in letterboxed ultra-compressed SD.

So I've heard but I don't like getting into series several seasons in and I don't have the time to catch up unfortunately. :(

Anyway, anything with zombies in it is usually pretty popular. But then again, besides soccer, I'm a sci-fi nerd for series like Fringe and stuff on SyFy. ;)

I have a suggestion for all those who are pining for AMC-HD. As I sit here watching the Twins vs Rangers on my Sammy 50" plasma I am on the computer reading this thread. I have PIP on my 22" monitor, which I have a H21 hooked up to. The largest size window I can get is about 3"x5", but when I tune into AMC the picture looks very close to HD.

just watched Top Gear in HD on The 101 network. I hope they get BBCA-HD by the time the new season starts near the end of September (though I'm not holding my breath).

    Come on now...

We know it's not going to be 2014. Civilization won't be around by then.

D12 will simply be broadcasting HD PPV to roaches and mutant Twinkies...

If you were replying to me: Are you refering to the cockroach or the mutant Twinkie?

I ask because I'm no stranger to cockroaches, but Mutant Twinkies intrigue me.... :eek2:

I wouldn't say that. DISH has some channels before DirecTV, but DirecTV also has others before DISH does. It all hinges on negotiations. I feel that networks with a close relationship with DISH will be easier to negotiate a contract with them, than they would with DirecTV. The same goes for networks with good relations with DirecTV, they will have an easier time negotiating a contract with them.
There are a lot of factors in any negotiation, and unless I know all the circumstances of the negotiation there is no way I could compare the Dish negotiating team against the DirecTV team.

I am a teenage Mutant Ninja Twinkie :hurah:

No, really, as a long time Minnesota Twins fan, the Twins are now mutants of the Twinkies of old.

The problem is that it's hard to figure out who DirecTV has a good relationship with other than Showtime, Starz, and Fox.

For instance, I always thought DirecTV had a better relationship with BBC America and Scripps than Dish, yet Dish has BBC America and all of Scripps networks. Ditto for Turner (Time Warner)...

The addition of only one of Lifetime's channels might have something to do with one DirecTV's relationship with a channel provider though. LINK and LINK

GSN and D* seem to have a good relationship does that mean we will get GSN HD at launch?

It seems to me that within months, Directv will have AMC, BBC, IFC, HLN, History International and E in HD. Those 6 channels will make almost everyone happy. We will get some of these in the next 4-6 weeks. And there will still be plenty of slots.

What will people be unhappy about after that? We are in the end game as far as available national channels to go HD.

And what will happen to the thread?

What if the comcast nbc thing goes though and they moved sports to some new HD channel and play hard ball with the other cable co's and E* and D*.

Just look at rogers sports net one to see how bad the cable co's can be.
