ALL the HD channels? From what I've read so far the majority on here want a lot the same channels, and would be happy if they added ~20 more HD's, which they have plenty of room for on D12.
Yeah I've see my neighbors HD picture with Cox and it looked fine, but not as good as D*.
Yeah, I guess I should have put those in bold.

The point of the post was to show that other providers are adding channels we don't have yet, and we continue to wait.

That's not my understanding. I think he was talking about expanding the service IN Latin America, to Latin-Americans. Directv is already big in some countries in South America.

The problem with that is that someone will say they want channels that you don't care about and then we're still in the why isn't DirecTV adding it?

Glad you're happy with the PQ on Cox in Phoenix since I sure wasn't.

And my point was that if DirecTV added all the channels out there now, just so they don't have to worry about not having a channel that another provide has, like World Fishing Network, we'll still be having discussions like this. But if they did that then there would be no breathing room to add channels that folks would really want that might be coming down the line. I can wait for DirecTV to roll out their expansion, if you can't maybe you should just switch then and be happy since you're not now.

Thankfully DirecTV offers a myriad of programming beyond what the "average American viewer" watches. If they didn't, they probably wouldn't have the same amount of subscribers as they do...

I know I wouldn't be one of them...

BTW... LOVE your avatar Sigma1914! :D

Who said I was happy with it? I said "it looked fine but its not as good as D*".

Who said I wasn't happy? I'm fine with D*. I can wait. I'm just as anxious as a lot of others on here who want more HD too. ;)

And I mean no disrespect towards you RAD, I just want some more HD like everyone else on here. :D

And potentially on 110 for the Latino package subs. The more mainstream channels such as GOL make sense on D12.

Maybe, so. Maybe because I have IFC HD on Fios and I know that a channel that is supposed to be about FILM stretches 90% of their content with that stupid edge stretching TBS used to use and it makes me ill to watch it.

Anyway, my point was still that a post that had a tone of saying DirecTV was behind actually pointed out that they are not, just differently aimed.

And, BTW, I watch a LOT of movies. And a bit nitpicky to cite one small error in my post.

And DirecTV has channels and programming that others don't have. Again, not sure I get the point. That a cable company that is behind in some areas is ahead in others? Happens all the time.

    VERY TRUE...

... and something for both sides of the issue to always keep in mind.

That news certainly reduces (or even erases) my desire to have IFC HD any time soon.

On an optimistic note, years ago TNT HD used to do that variable stretching on nearly everything (and call it HD), and now I seem to see the stretching much less often. I guess IFC will get with the program eventually.

That is so true. I've been waiting solely for FSC and once it comes I will be completely satisfied; however, I know there are a bunch of channels that have been mentioned (AMC, BBC, etc.) that I have never watched that are just as important to others. Hopefully in the next couple of months we will all be happy.

I hope so. It would be valuable. Two things that are frustrating. They mark everything HD and show SD in OAR. Yet when they don't have the real HD version, they stretch the SD OAR, so you get extremely stretched letterbox programming. I will never understand why channels like that don't zoom the picture.

What this does tell me is that IFC doesn't really care about film, though.

    **Rant Warning**

The cable guys (for locals as Directv has not gotten mine at all) bent my Directv dish in half trenching in the new cable so I've been without for a week.

Pardon my channel negotiating ignorance but I would have thought some more effort and foresight would have gone into negotiating these new channels. It's been two months since the new satellite went live and nearly 7 months since lift-off. Who knows how long they've been planning the launch too.

This is also my plug for Canadian channels. We've got a whole channel base (the 400s) devoted to the spanish/soccer crowd but we can't figure out how to get the channels from our northern neighbors. I'm sure someone will belittle my lack of knowledge about this or the "we've heard this a billion times" but if you hear it enough perhaps something should be done. I've contacted all my elected officials.

.....waiting for my Directv tech/installer guy patiently

Tony, do you get BBCA HD on FiOS? If so, do they do a nice job? TIA.
