I was very disappointed, with Travel Channel. Hadn't watched it much for a long time and started watching it when we got it in HD, but so many programs are food related. We actually watch it very little now, except for an occasional travel show. They should leave the food shows to the Food Channel and get back with the Travel programs like they used to show.

Nothing for sure, other than GOLTV and it sounds like the possibility of a few new Cinema HD channels.

Per Satracer we should be seeing a small increase in the first half of August.

I'll raise my hand as to being one of them :D. While I much prefer HD shows over SD I will still watch a show in SD regardless. (plus SD is not too bad from D* on my Sony 40" Tube ;) )

And honestly, it's too early to tell what we'll be getting. Sometimes contracts are signed at the last minute.

Nine Emmys, including back to back best drama series and a huge number of nominations, including multiple nominations in some categories.

Domination of the entertainment news as well as a large level of cultural influence.

This is one of those shows that is a cultural phenomenon--it's not popular, but it's influential. It's something in tune with some kind of zeitgeist--exactly the kind of high visibility thing that DirecTV or any company positioning itself as a premium alternative to cable should make sure they aren't missing out on.

Or at least that's my read about why there is so much particular agitation about this show and this channel and HD access.

They are 3 channels that were previously announced as part of the 30 we recently received. They haven't gone live yet but will soon.
    They are not adding more.

That's true. We can be happy with a 1980 Corolla until we drive a brand new BMW. :)

One can only hope FSC and + are right behind! Can't wait to watch the Gunners this weekend! I'm so sick of seeing Man U every where!

According to their Twitter feed we're getting FSC-HD along with Gol TV.

".@directv What is the status of FSC and GolTV in HD? Please make this happen before the European soccer season begins. "

".@sdazzo Both will be available soon, we'll post more info as soon as we can. "

No real suprise, channel is owned by Scripps which also owns FoodTV and Cooking Channel, to name a few. I also noticed that the Travel Channel is now airing some old Food Channel programs. (Food Finds) Strange, the top 3 programs on the channel are food related not travel.

I'll be very happy to have FSC-HD. Dunno yet about GolHD --guess we'll see.

I've broken out my desktop Festivus pole, like those little waterfalls/ponds people have for their office cube. When using that one I also downsize the airing of grievances to "mentioning of gripes".

Their top 3 programs are all travel related.

I'm sorry. I thought by reading this thread people wanted more than just one channel, next week.

    For your benefit:
DirecTV finally wraps up the "May" channel additions! :joy:
(That is, assuming the add the last promised PPV channel at some point.)

Does that work for you? If you're happy with a tiny Festivus pole that is cool.
