According to directv there are 31 since it doesnt list them under part time like the 2 FS channels:

    Plus:
    31 DIRECTV CINEMA™ HD channels
    1 DIRECTV CINEMA™ 3D channel

    Part-time HD channels:
    FS Cincinnati HD
    FS Ohio HD

PPV Cinema is a different beast as it uses your internet connection to provide the data transfer rather than a satellite.

It is also not the *BASIC ONLY* Anticipation thread.

So far, 13 HD channels were added in 2011, and 13 HD channels is really not that bad of a number for *any* provider. Sure, they weren't "BASIC" HD channels, but in this thread we anticipate and love ALL HD. ;)

By the way, 7 BASIC HD channels were added in 2010.

There are a number of Showtime and HBO "West" timezone channels still not in HD. (Let the "not needed cuz have DVRs argument begin).

Then there is Encore that has just launched a bunch of HD channels. Although, since you can get Encore with a Choice package, I would consider that basic.

I thought that is the case with Cinema On Demand....

As I have stated above, I understand that. However, basics are the topic of conversation the vast majority of time in this current quarter's discussion.

Known in some circles as 14 months ago. :p

You would be wrong. :( Sorry, no win.

It isn't an interesting qualifier at all. Homework assignment for you. During the first NFL Sunday Ticket games take a look in the guide and see how many PPV channels show up in the guide.

It's time to quit discussing other members and discuss the topic. You've been warned.

So you are saying Sunday ticket is going to replace both the Adult and regular PPV channels so that there are 5 or less?

Well, I'll surely take a look.

That said, while a PPV stream may not run concurrently in a given channel slot, if there are always at least 5+ PPV channels running at all times - then there are in effect 5+ PPV channels...

There's also a couple of premium channel missing. I think one from Showtime and OuterMax. Now, while I will certainly not day west coast feeds aren't needed because of DVR's I don't know that D* will spend a whole lot of time & energy on adding HD or west coast feeds in general of every premium channel they have. If the bandwidth is there and they can come to a good agreement, then fine by me. I just don't know if that is going to be of high level importance to them.

I don't think many would notice, but between the MLB extra innings (most games with both feeds of respective teams) and the start of the NFL Sunday Ticket plus D*'s RedZone channel, I wouldn't see many.

Alternatively, one could look at the PPV channels during the college football games and sense they would be on the same transponders as the NFL would the following day.

    Remember the HD part.

During the NFL Sunday games, especially when there still is baseball and no bye weeks, there are very few HD PPV channels left.

    Cheers,
    Tom

Either his posts have value or they do not. You can't have it both ways. Value them when your preconception matches. Say he is PR when it does not.

Funny, I think directv sports looks better than fios sports. (And i watch both every day)

And given the differences in formats, no one can say right now. Also, until 1.9 is out, fios does not have pass through so every box is converting signals locally.

I swear someone just said: "It's time to quit discussing other members and discuss the topic. You've been warned."

Anyway, I value SR's posts in that they offer advance PR for DirecTV channel launches. That doesn't mean I have to take them as gospel. While some of SR's posts are about upcoming channels, another large subsection of posts are more opinion based (generally in defense of DirecTV.)

When SR says, "HBO XYZ is going to launch in a week" I take that as fact. When SR says, "All providers SD is the same" I take that as opinion.

So yes, I can have it both ways. I am a finely tuned instrument capable of making my own decisions as how I will consume information...
