TCM and FMC are basics and they don't have commercials.

In advance, I say thank goodness that AMC HD is finally going to be added by DirecTV [Friday, Sept. 9]. Thanks to Tom, Sixto, and everyone who should be credited from DBSTalk.com.

In the meantime, outside AMC HD and truTV HD, I don't anticipate more than five other HD 'basics' getting added before the launch of D14, scheduled for 2013. I would like to be wrong about that. But the limitations with capacity are reason why more of what should be added will get delayed.

    Tentative/Official:
    246 truTV HD (by 12.31.2011)
    254 AMC HD (effective 09.09.2011)

    Possible:
    [601?] LONGHN HD

AMC is going live September 9. it's been mentioned at least 20 times today. Try to keep up.

DirecTV has announced they're NOT carrying LHN either.

The Directv page on Facebook has the following post:

Get ready, starting Sept. 9th watch AMC in HD! Catch all of your favorite AMC shows: Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead and The Killing in HD. Those blood thirsty zombies and jet setting Mad Men have never looked better.

    :)

It is nice to get ONE Basic HD channel every couple month (or every couple of years), but I don't care for AMC . Want DIY HD.

I don't know about TCM, but there are old movies (including really old) that actually look fantastic in HD. Sure, they aren't widescreen, but they shouldn't be. I know it's not exactly the same, but Buster Keaton's The General, Metropolis and Wizard of Oz look fantastic on Blu-Ray. Not bad when you're talking about a movie from 1926. All about the resolution of the film.

I subscribe to the Premier package, HD Extra Pack, MLB Extra Innings, and NFL Sunday Ticket. Given what I fork over for all that I can honestly say I'm getting my money's worth with HBO, FMC, TCM, ect. then I am with channels like AMC.

In the end, more HD is good. Adding AMC HD now lets us concentrate on what's left that needs to be added. :)
