And the day is FINALLY here, YES!!! AMC-HD

I am waiting for 9 am to see what the quality looks like, as infomercials are not really a guage for quality.

I am happy for those who watch that channel, but it is not on my favorites list. Waiting for Discovery ID HD & TruTV HD.

I don’t know if there is a nexus between DirecTV’s outlays for ST exclusivity and willingness to allocate funds for basic HD but, if so, the following quote from this week’s Sports Illustrated potentially is worrisome: “As I [football guru Peter King] . . . talked to owners, they seemed sure that the negotiation for the next TV deal will be historic. The price could be 50% to 70% higher . . . .”

Sleep vs. watching a channel he can watch 12 hours later also.

    Yeah, Sleep wins.

I'm happy I don't have to watch the AMC fans whine any more. This thread will probably lose 25% of its anticipaters now. :)

Possibly. I'd say, give us BBCA and TruTV and this thread would probably cease to exist in its current form.

Based on what I've understood reading this board, NFLST has been paying for itself as of late, I wouldn't be surprised if D* maintains exclusivity and may even include in-market games if appropriately priced. I am sure that the increase of the monetary value would all hinge on L.A. getting a team or two by the time the current broadcast TV deals expire.

    +1

There is always going to be something else though. I am sure all of us could have received most of our collective wish list if it weren't for other bandwidth usage, nowadays it is more or less fighting over leftovers.

I'm not saying those wouldn't be nice...

This thread exists to give those who want to anticipate a place to be a little looser without the mods tearing their hair out. (At least some of the mods still have hair, not me so much.) If we got BBCA and TruTV, the remaining channels would probably generate so little chatter that we might not need a quarterly free-for-all anticipation thread. That's what I'm saying.

Oh, I agree with that. This thread has been pretty tame lately. Every new channel added is slowly killing this thread. That is a good thing!

Completely agreed! We can only hope that the addition of AMC HD is a sign that Direct has figured out that MORE HD FOR BASICS is the way to go, that it will jump-start the growth that has slowed...and stopped...recently. Indeed, in many markets Direct has been passed by Time Warner in HD availabilities. That...is a disgrace...and why we're seriously considering switching.
