Someone need to tell TPC to say "cancel!"
We do - one way or the other.
Now Swanni is running a poll.
Hmm.. Oh well might as well vote to get more exposure. Need HD!
That might be one of the worst designed websites on the internet. How can he expect to be taken seriously with a website that looks like it was made from a template he downloaded while on AOL dialup in 1997? Its line after line of links, their is no flow or order. The only consistent content is a link to "HD Hotties", and banner ads.
I voted for BBC America HD.
I voted for OWN...I urge others who dislike that dork blogger to do so out of spite, as well.
I voted for NGW. I want Tru TV too but it was already reported as coming "soon" so it seemed like a waste of a vote.
I love the channel, but I alos agree with you. I would like more of those type of projects (or at least a demonstration, then detailed instructions online to get what editing cut).
I would think we all would know that eventually more are coming.
And the how many is a factor of when. Now that I think about it, so is which. Eventually... everything up will be HD.
I suspect there won't be any launched this month, time is running pretty darn short.
There might be something announced this month, though time is running pretty darn short for that too. That said, I never know when I might get a phone call in the middle of a dark, moonless night, from my contact calling on a burn phone in a phone booth at a gas station on the edge of nowhere.
(Thankfully they usually use email or PM and skip the melodramatics.)
What I'm really trying to say is we will get more HD before 2014 when D14 launches. How many? I'm not sure. To a degree that depends on who signs more than anything, from what I believe.
Yes, they can't launch 50 new channels before 2014, but 5 might make a lot of people happy.
Just gave me a happy memory. Years back, I had to exchange some stuff with a friend who recenly passed away. We did it at a gas station that was one of the Deep Throat meeting places during Watergate. And loved the fake cloak and dagger meeting. It was late at night....
The question is which 5 do you launch that will make the most people happy?
Refer to the Sixto poll?
Think we had discussed this a few weeks ago ...
The only missing HD channels that were requested by at least 35% of the 1500 responders are BBCA HD and TCM HD (from 2010), with History International from this year.
If we lower it to at least 23% then we pick up 6 more: IFC HD, FMC HD, DIY HD, E! HD, Nat Geo Wild HD, and TruTV HD.
That's it ...
2014...really???????????? thats how you get your quarterly projections back in better standing??......really?
But which ones will be harder to add without the content owner requiring carriage of their counterparts?
Can you add IFC HD without adding We and Fuse in HD? Or is this a package deal?
Does Scrips networks offer DIY HD without adding Cooking HD?
Does Comcast offer E! HD without also bundling Style HD?
It might have to be:
Nat Geo Wild HD
That's 11 - If the content owners say "well you want this network, you have to also take that network!"
might as well be the 1st four only since package deals not in play..
comes with TCM and HLN?
so much for 4...hows about 3 more HD's ??
All depends on how the content owners bundle their offerings.
Some staples are not bundled at all. But others may require directTV to take a particular package, or at least commit to carrying the others by a certain date.
Hence the ever complex tango. It's not always money. It's bandwidth and politics as well.
If it wasnt about money...I'd not be here with all you fine people I'd still be with Time Warner and the NFL Network...Oh snap ....thats right NFL channel aint there...tango and money and location ...yeah it doesnt matter...HAH!
