Please use this thread to discuss your feelings about upcoming national HD channels.

This thread will not be as tightly moderated as the rest of the site, but here's the tradeoff... in exchange for your being able to rant a bit more, you can be assured that absolutely no one at DIRECTV will be using this thread for reference.

You can ask for all the new HD you want, but DIRECTV's marketing department knows that the 100-150 contributors to this thread are only a small part of the 18,000,000 total subscribers.

*Please remember that all forum rules are still in effect.
*Please do not "bump" this thread.
*Other threads that do nothing but anticipate HD channels for which there is no information will be closed.
*This is not a DIRECTV vs. Dish thread, there are other threads for that.

Many Valid points in that copy n paste... I know I dont share same sentiment for adding premiums, I HAVE PREMIUMS and while I want the remaining Max Channel, the newest Encore channels that started beaming in HD, i'd still fly the flag for more basic to come 1st..

So tell me how this works, and i know many will jump on the blog when i say...please correct me if I'm wrong..
Outer Max is the lone last remaining Max channel not in HD on D* And someone here alerted me that 2 of other Encore channels ALSO started beaming in HD...I dont add EPIX to this list since it aint on D* in the 1st place...Does Filx even beam in HD ?? if so add it to my premium wants..

Now here comes the question...Does a tango need to be orchestrated for those channels ---> or is the HD (defacto) in the bag already? In which D* simply just needs to add it right, cause its already agreed on right???

If thats the case how long was D* paying HBO/MAX/SHO/TMC for the HD feeds while they werent even ON YET?
Yeah yeah techie's i know a new bird had to fly to compensate the allocations, testings, and make sure they sky isnt falling...that was a funny video someone put up after D12 taking too long to test properly.....

But they really sat on those HD premium additions if what I'm implying is true...

and yet good money is being paid by us for D* essentially to sit on their arse's for those HD additions?? thats cool right??

Meanwhile the blog is loaded with requests for Basic HD's but they arent tango'ed in the 1st place beacuse f it...they're basics...we'll get to it later kinda attitude, premiums 1st and PPV HD's..WOW we had a s--t quarterly...Here's AMC-HD to (WC Fields Style) to have you go away...ya bother me......for now.....

So if premiums are moved to the front of the line (I mean come on with the recent wave of additions!!) they still SIT in line for their HD channels to be lit by D*.. for agreements already in place? if so?

    SOON D*.............soon

DIY and Cooking would be nice, but I want Universal Sports first. Rumor is that Universal Sports is coming in January.

As one who grew up watching three channels (CBS, NBC, DuMont/ABC), I greatly am impressed by the complexity of today’s TV landscape. Yesterday’s WSJ, for example, noted “The biggest broadcast and cable-television channels are racing to launch tablet apps linked to their broadcasts and used simultaneously with their TV shows. The hope is that viewers will tune in live and interact.”

While long dismayed by DirecTV’s glacial pace in adding basic HD, I only can imagine how complicated negotiations for channel carriage now have become.

No one should watch a movie in SD, so for every movie channel carried (basic or premium) for a which a HD feed exists, I think the HD feed should be added.

    After that, it's all gravy.

I'd love to see G4 back and in HD. Outside of that, I'm content with DirecTV's HD offerings. Sure, add more, but for now, I'm a happy panda.

Here we go again :beatdeadhorse: How many years have been at this now?

I hate to sound negative but I don't see that many more new HD channels coming this year, *maybe* PTC, TruTV, or BBC. And where's OutMax at?

I DO see some more RSN's being added in the near future though.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens over the next 2.5 years before the new sats are launched and up and running (was 2013, now 2014). Some say there's not enough bandwidth left now to add more HD, some say there is, that D* may have space, or reuse space, that we don't know about. And those who do know aren't talking.

I still find it sad though that its almost 2012 and we're still having to deal with SD channels, when almost everything today is shot in HD. You know how I feel about that from previous posts.

We all know what we want, its up to D* to get added.

    Soon.

*all those Alan listed above would be nice*

Prior to 2008 (well, more like 2009 really), DirecTV was ahead of the game, adding almost every HD channel at launch (or prior to launch).

2009 was when my anticipation turned into frustration. :(
