Yeah, BBC America HD is now #1 on my wish list.
I'll torrent the Doctor Who Christmas Special so I can watch it in HD.
As a Premier sub, I am very happy with what was added in 2011. If they can add another 4 or 5 in 2012 I'll be pretty much set as far as HD.
+1 to that.
What would those five be?
Spacemaker is happy.. But, he would have been happy if nothing was added.... Am I wrong? You were a premier sub before the adds and would have been one regardless.. If it walks like a fanboy, well, it might be a Beatles fanboy.. Err?
I neglected to insert the word "basic" before HD, because that's what I meant.
Actually, I do watch them. I simply maintain to add one basic HD channel in an entire calendar year is pathetic. Period.
Like everyone here I too have my basic channel HD wants. But try looking at it from DirecTV's point of view. They're a business, not a wish list provider. As with any business profit is the name of the game. For DirecTV the profit makers are the Premium Channels, PPV's, and the Sports Packs. Makes sense for them to concentrate on the aforementioned and make them as appealing and attractive as possible.
JUst curious. What's on BBC America that makes it attractive to you? I have yet to watch this channel. What programs do you recommend on it?
Top Gear, Luther, Being Human, Doc Who and a few more.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all "anticipators". Hope you have a High Definition Holiday season!
I prefer to look at it from my point of view. Right now I have Premiums for free, but there is rarely anthing I care to watch. Most good movies they show, I already have on DVD or Blue Ray. I have a large collection of movies that I can watch when I want and as often as I want. I also have Netflix. PPV is also out. If there are any good movies that I care to see, we do dinner and a movie. No popcorn or sodas since we've already had dinner and a margarita. If it's a movie that I really like, I'll get it on Blue Ray, usually when the price goes down.
Don't get me wrong. I like D* and especially the whole home DVR service, but it would be nice if they got more basics or locals in HD. TMC, ION, H2, etc. D* does have a lot of bull corn channels that I have programmed out of my custom tv guide.
Happy Festivus is trending #2 on Twitter.
Doctor Who, Luther, primeval, Top Gear, and so on, and so on...
I don't know if Primeval will return. I've seen nothing that indicates it.
My one hope in adding HD channels for this year was to get BBCA. Doesn't look like that will happen..
Not sure about the others, but BBCA mangles Top Gear so bad by cutting stuff to put in commercials that I have resolved to keep getting it via *ahem* other methods *ahem* even if BBCA goes HD on D*.
I still can't believe that Directv hasn't given us HLN in HD yet Dish has had it for quite some time.
I use similar "ahem" methods. Get most of mine in HD too. And lots more good programs than BBCA puts out. I even get all the other UK OTA channels and they very kindly keep them for me. I have to say the BBC iPlayer is the best of them all as it even has "series record" options built in.
So on Christmas morning I will be watching the BBC UK Top of The Pops - live And Dr Who before it comes on here (and in HD!)
