Direct tune (punching in numbers) is not affected by favorites lists.

When you say noting happens, you mean it says something like channel not available?

That's one of those "Twilight Zone" things. I typed in 1100 and it went right to it. I 've tried several times before and it just went to my local Fox station channel 4.

    Thanks for the reply

Yes, only 1 HD VOD program for VH1 Classic (which doesn't even have a linear HD channel) and TNT at this time, but last week HGTV only had 1 HD episode and now they have a pretty nice amount now, so hopefully moving forward all these networks will offer more HD for the new episodes, new shows etc.

So channels they don't carry in HD have VOD HD content while channels they do carry in HD (like BBCA) do not. Interesting.

If you put a couple of 'somes' in there it's not confusing, esp. given that there are some recent additions to the HD stable, and not everything is in HD on all but a few channels.

That is fairly typical for all systems. Same happens with fios and Comcast.

I am hoping and thinking that they are just starting to get Video On Demand really going now and have finally begun to start getting stuff in Hi Definition. Maybe HBO go was the first real full test of implementing Hi Definition Video On Demand for all channels.

The channel is in HD or DirecTV is broadcasting it in HD?

Both. Nat Geo Wild was launched nationally in HD (March 29, 2010). DirecTV carried the SD version soon after launch (June 30, 2010) and added the HD feed, as noted, this year.

This has got to be the scariest exchange I've read on this board in long time.

With Halloween coming up, I may find a freak show to attend, just so I can go as My Little Pony.

It all depends on what they are doing with D10.

When was the last time there was a significant HD channel release late in the 4th quarter?

Sixto keeps a comprehensive list of channel changes here. The last Q4 HD addition was SonyHD back in October 2010, but overall, my take on the list is that Q4 is usually fairly quiet.

Or these channels getting Hi Definition Video On Demand is a way to give us Hi Definition without using bandwidth till d14, and there are other channels that will come, like the encore ones we don't even have yet at all.

I know, I am suggesting they may pick up new channels they have the rights to but don't carry at all first before by upgrade current channels to Hi Definition.

Rights to Epix were included in the recent deal Directv signed with Viacom. The way I understand it, Directv has the rights to Epix at a set price for the next year if they choose to add the service, however it was Directv's call as to if/when to offer Epix.

From the press releases, it sounded as if Directv had no real interest in Epix, but had no objection to having the option in the contract. It was more of a face-saving effort on Viacom's part so say, "yeah, Epix was part of the Directv deal."

That probably doesn't answer your question, but then the only source that truly can is inside Directv.
