I think once the new year begins we will see new HD especially Trutv.
I was referring to the satcos.
For the Mad Men fans who can't watch the very poor Directv SD quality, there is a real bargain going on at Amazon.com:
Mad Men seasons 1,2 and 3, on BLURAY, at 9.99 each (80% off). Can't get any better than this.
I think I will buy these. Too good of a deal to pass up.
I jumped on it. Commentaries on every episode too.
If amc is not in hd next year I will go with either Blu-ray or maybe NetFlix,
Placed my order yesterday, delivery estimated DEC 20 ! Mad Men must be seen in HD.
AMC series take a long time to reach Bluray, no word yet on Mad Men season 4. Only Amazon VOD has it, obviously not counting the ilegal stuff.
Mad Men and Gossip Girl both are awesome in HD. Exceptional art direction and cinematography. It's criminal D* is screwing their loyal user base this way. Greed rules. The customer be damned.
Imagine when Kabletown (aka Comcast) absorbs NBCU like the Blob. Ya think the viewing public is going to benefit from any of that monopolistic vertical integration? If only we had some anti-trust laws on the books...(sarcasm intended)
Did you insult Jeff Bezos' mother or something? I ordered this morning and my delivery estimate is Dec 8th-15th.
Confucius say: HD not make bad programming good programming by itself.
Actually ,they gave me Dec 10 to Dec 20. Not in a hurry with 4 DVRs loaded with HD programs to watch, unfortunately none from AMC (OK, I couldn't let it pass).
Thanks for the tip. Grabbed season 3.
I have rented them all via netflix. The commentaries alone make it a great purchase.
question.... On amc , do they show there series shows /original stuff in the letterbox (on D) similar to the way they do with movies ? I know its not HD , but I can handle that way better than the encore channels way-I never touch those... I have actually watched a few amc movies the past few months..
The way my dvr is set up, the image is window boxed (black bars on all 4 sides. My projector then zooms to fill the screen.
Yes. So you can do a Zoom on a HDTV to use more of the screen without stretching anything out of shape or cutting off anything. But it still won't fool anyone into wondering if that's really HD. . .
I just download the walking dead and top gear in HD off of bit torrent and play it on the TV with Boxee. If AMC & BBCAmerica & DirecTV can't play nice, **** em'. Then I won't play nice either. I have a right to watch those shows, I pay for them, so what if I want them in HD. I also pay for the internet, so I don't feel one bit of remorse downloading it. It's not like I haven't paid to see those shows.
It seems that some folks have struggled with the idea of this thread for anticipation and hope, in contrast to craving and lust for certain channels.
Ranting won't make anything happen...even repeated ranting.
Very true my friend. But ranting seems to be the fashion.
