The point of your post might be better stressed if you focus on channels currently out there, instead of just what Dish Network has compared to DirecTV.

    Good job!

Sure are alot of channels on this list I would like to have! No I don't want to switch. Directv I guess has the most hd channels in total count.

But who has the most hd channels the majority of subscribers want to actually watch. Not convinced that's Directv - that is really my only complaint just saying!

I'm lucky, my wife is big on sports too. Sure she misses E!, Lifetime Movies, QVC/HSN, Cooking Channel, Especially DIY, Fashion TV, Style Network & WeTV. But missing out on these channels won't convince her to switch to E* or Fios. Although she hopes some of these will be added to the D* portfolio in time.

typical response, no need to to go into depth here, but unless you are a 24 hours a day/7days a week viewer of sports,or just can't get enough of PPV HD, then yes, Dish is laughing their arses off. FX is the only one of those three that I would be concerned about, but would happily give it up for the MULTITUDE of national HD MOVIE/non sports channels that Dish has.

Why haven't I left yet? Two reasons:
1). I have been a loyal customer of D* for many years and am willing to wait a bit longer,,,,,,just call me a sucker.
2). While Dish has a superior DVR, it lacks in disk space. They resolve that problem, and I will be gone rather quickly if I don't see a big turnaround in D* in the very near future.

Dish has the new vip922 DVR with 1TB hard drive and a full HD user interface.

That was my first choice, but I couldn't get LOS for dish network. DirecTV points in another direction, so I settled with them. The local cable company has more HD channels, but I can't take their primitive on screen guide that runs on their 250GB Pace DVR's with no multiroom and huge banner ads on every page of the guide. YUCK.

If DirecTV could match the cable co's HD lineup, it would be a match made in heaven. Much better equipment with multiroom and a far nicer on screen interface and search system. Add a full fledged National HD lineup, and I'll be more than happy to tell all of my friends, coworkers and family how great it is.

My thoughts exactly. I am in the same boat as you, I want FX HD, but really, Justified is about the only thing I watch on that channel,,,,,and maybe the rare movie here or there, although they seem to have signal issues whenever I do tune it in for a move.

I am fully aware that D* could care less if I leave. It would take a mass exodus to tweek their concern. Will their be a mass exodus? Not currently, but if they don't start listening to their customers and catching up to the competition in the National NON SPORTS and PPV arena, it is my opinion it will happen sooner than later.

Here is an example: Most women like the Lifetime Network. LMN is in HD, but Lifetime is not. Now, for those of you who are married, you know that NOBODY IS HAPPY IF THE WIFE ISN'T HAPPY. How long will women sit by silently as they see more and more sports channels added in HD, and nothing for them? This same same thing hold true for AMC as well, (although for both men and women).

Here is my bottom line. D* is free to become any type of provider they want. They can be 100% sports and PPV if they want, I don't care. But being as they are my current provider, I just want to know their intentions, and maybe some time-lines would be nice. Then I can make some decisions based on those facts. The thing that frustrates me the most, is the constant promises within non-commited language. Words like "probably" and "up to", and "capability" etc., are really getting old.

As I said, I would like to stay with D*, but damn, they are really making it hard.

That's actually backwards by the way...

Lifetime is in HD, but Lifetime Movie Network is not....

Well, you just answered one of my questions. The DVR issue was a big one. I will give it a SHORT time more with D*, and then make the switch if nothing good happens. My timeline is AMC by November or bust (gotta have the Zombies in HD).

Thanks for the help, and I agree, if D*matched Dish channel for channel on the National HD, or at least was close with some of the really minor channels being different, I would also highly recommend them. I used to be a huge fanboy myself, and it would be nice to go back to that without having to make a switch.

lol, thanks for the catch. What can I say, I'm a guy. But that makes sense, as the wife complains about the movies not being in HD.

I enjoy "Drop Dead Diva" (currently on hiatus), as well as some of the syndicated programming (though I don't really watch any of them much), and the holiday movies (that should be starting up next month), so I count Lifetime as being one of the FOUR channels I got this year that I care about...

Looks like some folks need to get back to discussing the topic, rather than attacking fellow members. If you're unhappy with the service being provided, leave. That will accomplish more than any other act. Personally, I am happy with the 194 HD channels we have now and the new ones we will receive in the near future.

Thank You Slimoli, cmasia and thelucky1 for your series of right on posts.

There are some on this forum that make some of us uncomfortable. Even to the point of driving people away. One specializes in “always being right” while being condescending and downright mean spirited by poking fun at people who don’t like auto pay, miss-spell, etc. When called out, if there is a response, he claims he is just joking [passive/aggressive]. The hypocrisy dealing with his posts on another thread is hilarious!

This forum has a moderator. And it isn’t you, although you seem to treat this forum as your personal playground, much as a playground bully.

As for leaving, perhaps you could leave the forum

So what about all those posts of yours in the Dish forum? Explain why your actions are not hypocritical.

I am sure you have an explanation. Because you are always right [in your mind].

Are you folks ready to discuss the topic of this thread or are these childish attacks on others more entertaining?
