I guess some posters just expect everyone to have the same programing likes as them. I bet if you took 1000 people and asked them to each make up a list of their top 10 channels, you might not get two lists the same.
Choice is great, even if it isn't channels I care for.

I agree. Golf has very loyal fans. I watch it sometimes. Not religiously but this would be dissappointing UNLESS they replace it with something worthwhile. :nono2:

    I read the report.

The satellite TV service also recently said it might soon drop certain channels that fail to generate high ratings.

Do they know what I watch? Do they know what everyone watches? How do they determine ratings?

I would be extermely disappointed to lose TGC. I'm not going to make threats about dropping DTV over one channel, but being a big golf fan, I would miss this channel a lot.

If D* and Golf cannot come to an agreement I think you'll see more of an outcry from Golf fans then you would for G4 and possibly even when Versus was lost. Golf fans are very loyal, the #'s may be down now but if Tiger comes back strong and with a lot of the young golfers coming on people will want to watch. Many of PGA tournaments are on Golf Thurs/Fri then roll over to the network coverage for Sat/Sun. I don't watch Golf all that much, but I would say that we do as a family flip over to Golf channel semi reguarly in the Spring/Summer when Golf is taking over. I hope things get worked out, I don't imagine D* truly wants to lose Golf being they call themselves the sports leader. What I have read it sounds like D* would like to move Golf into another package that doesn't have as many viewers.

As was mentioned above, this is one of many changes ahead for Comcast/NBC. NBC Bay Area hasn't offically announced it but Raj Mathi their sports anchor is moving to be a new anchor with some duties that will include CSN Bay Area. Everyone's looking for ways to save money, this is one way to cut back but still get "solid" sports coverage. There are still lots of questions as to what will happen with Golf, Versus, and Universal Sports........if Comcast plans to move them all together under the NBC Sports brand and where their CSNs fit in. Plus, you have the bidding taking place on the PAC 12 championship football game, ESPN let their window for the game expire both FOX and NBC now I am sure are heavily involved in trying to get the rights for the game.

I think both the Golf Channel and the Tennis Channel would be better served if they were in the Sports Tier. They would probably get a lot more sports tier subscribers if they did that, and thus make more money.

D* probably would like to carry those channels in that tier, but Comcast won't agree to it.

But you have to think that CSN Chicago with comcast only having 20% the teams have 80% + the teams also have a lot of there games on WGN / WCIU (NBC / comcast may not like that) + CSN Chicago showing FSN stuff As we used to have FSN Chicago. That CSN Chicago may end doing some stuff it's own way.

Versus is getting better but If ESPN / ABC or FOX or CBS gets the NHL rights what will VS?

Remember that the Chicago teams left FSN to get control of there own broadcasts. I don't if it will happen but the teams can take a out and drop CSN and team up with WGN to go to a new RSN.

D* needs a mini sports pack cheaper without the RSN's just the other sports channels.

I for one enjoy watching golf and probably watch both the pga and European events every week. Would I leave D* if they drop it, probably not, but I would be very disappointed having to be stuck with the CBS/NBC coverage on weekends.

You know I wonder if one of these days I am going to need to buy service from three different providers to get what I want.

If they drop the Golf Channel I will be extremely pissed off. As a matter of fact I will pay my ETF and cancel.

Maybe they can drop a channel that you like. I am sure it's a waste of bandwidth.
