    See this:

DIRECTV scores another first in sports broadcasting technology with GameSearch(TM), a new search-engine based technology that illuminates the problem of local sports game blackouts for frustrated fans. When a DIRECTV receiver is tuned-in to a channel with a blacked-out game, GameSearch(TM) recognizes the blackout and immediately looks to see if the game is on another channel.

Yep, it was a feature introduced in a CE release not too long ago. Did you get that quote directly from the DirecTV website or from somewhere else? Either way, the URL would be nice for everyone else...

I had this happen a week or so ago on a Red Wings game. I was able to find the game on another channel faster than the search-engine

Got it from an e-mail. Looked for the press release on the website but it wasn't there yet. Will do as soon as I locate it.

I noticed this on my STB on Sunday. I tuned into TBS for the Brewers-Red Sox game, and it directed me to 642-1. Very cool!

Maybe so, but if you hadn't been home and had the game set to record, it still would have recorded on the other channel. 1 minute at the beginning of a game? who cares...

Some boxes did as a beta. It's now officially released into the field as of a few weeks ago for those STB's indicated.

How do I get this function? I dont need it but still. I have an HR21. Tonight is a perfect time to test if too since NYM is on ESPN and here in NYC its blacked out. I put on 206 earlier and I got the 'Program not available locally' message and thats it.

    Lancaster,...
Yeah, we've had this feature in beta testing for several weeks or maybe a month now. A nice feature for sports fans.
