Connecting Dish 500. I have a Dish 500 with a dual lnb on it.

I have a standard dish non dvr receiver.

The receiver has one input to it, but the dish 500 has two lnb's one for 110 and one for 119.

What is the standard way of hooking this system up so that I can see both 110 channels and 119 channels at the same time, and the receiver only has one input?

    Thanks,

    Scott

I think you mean you've got a twin lnb, that's the one where you have both lnbs in one plastic casing with two coax connections out. There is also an lnb called a dual, but it would be smaller and only look at one satellite.

If you've got the twin, just direct connect one cable from the dish to the receiver. I know the ports on the dish are likely labelled 119 and 110, but this only kicks in when you connect an external switch. In absense of that switch, direct connect will carry both satellite feeds

Hmmm. I connected to to 110 coax connection on the lnb last night, then pointed it at the 110 till it locked on, then I had things like espn and stuff, but NO locals.

Then I disconneted the coax from the 110 and connected it to the 119 connection, then pointed it at the 119 sat until it locked, then I had locals, but no espn and stuff like that.

If you're saying I only need to connect to one of the connectors of the LNB, how do I get locals and sat channels to show up at the same time?

Based on what I did above, I thought I would have to hook up some kind of multiplexer to combine the connections from the 110 and 119 hookup off the lnb and get them to the receiver.

The lnb I have says dish pro digital LNBF on it. It is one plastic housing with like 2 white eyes facing the dish.

This would be a busticated DishPro Twin. It has a switch built in, but the switch isn't working.

Specifically what model receiver do you have?

Busticated gave me a little smile as that is a funny term, but I am not happy to hear it is broke.

    I have a 301 receiver.

Anyway to get this to work with the given equipment?

Sounds like I am hosed based on reading the above FAQ's?

Like Harsh said, there is suppose to be a switch in there, but it does not appear to work on this one. Any ideas on how to get a new twin lnb that works, or is there something better that I should get to work with my 301 receiver?

    Thanks,

    Scott

I'll go try it. Does it have to be outside, or can I just try this with the sat sitting on the floor in the house?

Yes, try that. It sounds like you might have the 110 part of the lnb looking at 119.

First thing is mount and aim the dish using the 119 port then run check switch. Report the results after that.

OK thanks. That won't happen anymore tonight, and I'm heading out of town in the morning for the weekend. Hopefully I can try again on sunday.

thanks for all the help so far.
