I want to give my Dish 721 to a friend but I cannot get rid of the history of PPVs. Is there a way to get rid of the PPV history? Should I have him get a new access card and will that delete the history? The movies were all reported and paid for so I do not know why they are there.

I'm sure your friend doesn't care if you watched "Schindler's Fist" or not.

Yes, your friend will have to get another access card, and yes it will clear the PPV history!

If they have been paid for it does not matter,
They will NOT need a new card

Tee hee. That was very funny....no wait a minute....that was funny when I was an adolescent....nevermind.

Actually, I am embarrased to say I bought some WWF PPVs and my friend would never let me live it down. But your witty assumption is so much better.

As a new user I can say that it is guys like you that make newbies want to run away and not bother posting here. So if the intent of this forum is that of a few elite forum members to post something that humors each other than please let me know so I can move on.

You should be more embarassed at your extreme lack of humor and ability to comprehend the intention of light-hearted comments, than at your proclivity for watching oiled, muscular, almost naked men groping each other in staged battles with predetermined outcomes.

Unfortunately, a card swap will not help with that.

You are welcome here. Please don't let a few people's remarks keep you away. There are many members who are happy to help you with questions/problems on many subjects.

Of course, there are always some responses that strive only to be humorous--and some do succeed! :D

Humor? What humor? The part where you implied I was watching porn or the part where you are implying I am a latent homosexual? Is this really the sort of discourse advocated on a dish forum?

    The former was humor.

The latter was meant as an insult in response to your harsh response to the former.

Has it occured to you at all that your humor may not be appreciated? Or are you so self involved that you assume everyone that post on this forum shares your sense of humor? You see this is about manners - to which you have none. If this were a thread you started I'd have less of an issue. But since it was a thread I started as an admitted newbie I found it more than rude that you insinuate in any way that I was watching pornographic material. Worse, your post offered absolutely ZERO information and far worse, you haven't apologized for being a pompous ass! Then again, a simple read of your tag line pretty much says all that I need to know about you.

oljim had the correct answer. As far as I know there is no known way to get rid of the events even though they have already been reported and paid for. When I sold my 721 it had a couple of previously paid events shown in the history.

Thank Bob & Pepper. I'll just have him get a new card. In the end, it isn't that big of a deal but I was curious why the events haven't cleared yet.

Ok, there IS a way to do what you are asking. However, you have to REMOVE the cover. I was trying to get my 721 to see a CD-ROM drive, and I unhooked the Hard Drive. If you unhooked the hard drive's IDE Cable and power it on, it will give an error message. After you get the message, power it off and hooked the IDE cable back up. It with then do a forced re-install and se everything except the current software version bacl to factory specs. It even lost the PPV history(which brings up some other interesting questions)..... Anyway, evidently, the 721's bios MUST see the HD or it will force a re-install. Now I'm gonna have some peeved kids since I lost about 50 hours of their movies......oh well. Good Luck.

A new card will cost you $50. The old card, containing paid PPV that he won't have to pay for but you don't want him to see, costs you $0.

But, try the suggestion about disconnecting the drive and reinitializing the unit, I had forgotten about that one.

Thanks again. I will try the drive disconnect. Again, it is not that big of a deal but I found it interesting that the history is still there even though it was paid for over a year ago.
