I just recently switched from direct TV to Dish. Same TV being used with both companies.

Somehow, Direct TV's standard definition was somehow better than what I currently have which is Dish HD.

The settings for the satellite receiver (not sure of its actual name) says its set to 1080i 16x9 resolution yet the quality is really bad. It's only a hair better than direct Tv's standard definition. I'm also certain I'm checking the HD only channels. The standard definition look even worse than direct tv's standard ones.

I was wondering if this is normal with Dish?

Someone from dish did all the installations, they used a HDMI cable, etc. Not sure what could be wrong.

Setting for Dish and Direct are usually not the same and the tv should be adjusted to get the best quality for the source.
