Ok so I'm at a friend's house for the weekend and they went on their On Demand with DTV and you can see recent shows from ABC, etc.
I know Comcast and Charter have that where pretty much all channels have some shows or something On Demand.
If I'm not mistaken Dish only has movies or shows that are not very popular. Am I right?
Why does the On Demand by Dish lacks so much compared to the others?

Dish and Direct both have less VOD selection compared to many cable providers. But what is available in VOD is what the content providers themselves want to be there from everything I read.

Directv On Demand is very close to cable, Infact I think Directv has more as far as HD content.
Dish is way behind Directv in VOD!

Having had both I'd say Dish is behind, but not way behind.

Does Dish have the premium library, like HBO, that DirecTV has?

    Yes, though DirecTV's is better.

BB@Home brings a slew of VOD to the table that I never saw while I was with Direct. Direct does a much better job on the premium channel's VOD offerings though.

The rest of the channels seem pretty much the same.

All that said, what and how much VOD either have wouldn't be a consideration if I were selecting a service. While I've used VOD on both services at times, they just aren't the same as what cable offers. It is the single area that I feel that cable is superior in offerings, especially since almost all VOD on cable is right now, not some time after a slow download.

Nope that's a thing of the past my friend my 5 MBPS service has no problem with the "Watch it Now" function.

I've had Dish Network too, and My best friend has Dish right now, Trust me he wishes he had Directv on Demand!
I don't blame him, because Dish is WAY behind on this function. Sorry I don't sugar coat things , ask just about anyone here.

Nope, Dish on demand is well organized other than the huge volume of bb stuff.

BTW, I don't sugar coat anything either. I just happen to love and hate both services pretty equally. That's why I can switch so often. :)
